If your newborn slept on an incline (swing, rock and play sleeper, bouncer etc)....
When and how did you transition to a flat surface (Crib)?
DD2 has a hard time falling into a deep sleep, but once she does, she sleeps a min of 8hrs through the night (sometimes 10-12) but we leave her in the swing and shut the swing off after an hour or 2.
I have tried rocking her in my arms and then putting her in the crib...no luck....wakes right up the second she hits the mattress.
I have been sleeping in ur basement with her since she was born bc our bedroom shares a wall wth DD1. I would REALLY like to stop sleeping on the couch now that she STTN consistently.
She is 10 weeks old.

My son didn't like it at first but then he got used to it. I think you have to try things several times. We did naps at first (thanks to some ladies suggesting it )
If that doesn't work, try the crib wedge.

Does she like the swaddle?? DD1 HATED to be swaddled. Ended up sleeping in the swing and car seat for the first 2 months. Then one day I put her on her belly and she started sleeping 6+hrs at a time. With DD2 I started swaddling right away (once her reflux was under control) and letting her lay there with the mobile on and a sound machine. SHe loves the noise and I make sure the swaddle is nice and tight. She dozes off after like 10 mins. at first though she was also in the car seat and swing cause she hated laying flat on her back and her reflux made it very uncomfy. But the swaddle made all the difference in the end.

Can you get Sadie a sound machine? The one we have for the kids goes pretty loud, they can't hear each other unless one of them is screaming at full volume
I think it's fine to keep her sleeping on an incline until she's older. DD slept in the rock and play sleeper until 3+ months

BBB and BRU sell a wedge to put under the sheet in the crib and it creates an incline.
I also discovered at 5 weeks that my DD sleeps so much better swaddled.
Try swaddling and getting the wedge or roll up some towels and put them under the crib sheet.

Agreed. My First DS I did a loose swaddle with just a rec blanket he had no issues sleeping even if he broke out of the swaddle. DS #2 needs a tight swaddle so I use the swaddle me and he loves it, he actually smiles and laughs when I put it on. Also I got the crib wedge as well and I put him to sleep on his side, he winds up on his back at some point during the night but has no issues but if I put him on his back right away (I rock him to sleep) then he wakes crying hysterically.
PS you are so lucky she is STTN! DS #1 was an angel sleeping through by 7 weeks...DS#2 has only given me 3 nights of complete sleep and I swear those 3 nights DS#1 knew and woke up for some reason! He never wakes!

Re: If your newborn slept on an incline (swing, rock and play sleeper, bouncer etc)....
Thanks all...
Just to add
Sadie has an AC, a huidifier AND a sound machine in the room. The sound machine MUST play twinkle twinkle till she falls asleep (we set it for an hour). I cant leave the sound machine on all night because I TWITCH from the stupid twinkle twinkle. LOL.
She does sleep swaddles in the swing. She has a lot of trouble falling asleep without the swaddle and will only cat nap even in the carseat when we are out.
I tried rocking her swaddled and then putting her down, NO good. I tried getting her drowsy and putting her down and no good either.

If you swaddle her and put her down sleepy, does she lay there and start to cry/whine?? or just lays there awake?

DS slept in his car seat for four months. We just kept trying the crib for naps, and as he would sleep longer, we finally were able to put him in there at night.

During the day I have sucessfully gotten her to sleep in the crib for about an hour but laying her in the swaddle and giving her the binky, she ill whine and cry and I repeat 10 million times till she falls asleep. At night she wants no part of it and screams bloody murder if I put her on her back.

for DD2, it was somewhere between 3 and 4 months. We still kept her swaddled when we moved her. She might have gone in sooner, but i needed her to sleep in the rocker when we were on vacation at 3 months, but i dont think it would have worked much sooner than that.

Re: If your newborn slept on an incline (swing, rock and play sleeper, bouncer etc)....
I had the EXACT same problem. My DS is now 3 months and he now sleeps through the night in his crib.
For the first 8 or 10 weeks, he was in the swing. He took his naps in the swing and he would sleep at night in his swing. I could not for the life of me get him to sleep flat on his back. I tried swaddling him, but he didn't like it and he busted through it.
I started to do some reading and based on what I saw, it seemed as though he was a belly baby. I started him out slowly by letting him nap in his crib on his belly. He would nap soundly 2-3 hours a clip. (I must stress that even though he couldn't flip over, his head and neck were very strong and he was able to move his head from side to side). After a week or so of him napping in the crib, I started to placce him on his belly. He started to sleep 8 hours through the night and then jumped to 12 solid hours. He'll be 15 weeks this Wednesday and he is still averaging 10-12 hours a night sleeping on his belly.
