If you're not done having kids, do you plan vacations in advance?
Or do you wait til kinda last minute? Even if you're not trying right now and don't plan to, do you still book your vacations in advance?
There are some cruise deals but they are 9 months to a year out and although we're not even close to trying for #2 I guess you never know what could happen or how we'll feel about it a few months down the line. Not sure if we should just wait til it gets closer or book with insurance?

Re: If you're not done having kids, do you plan vacations in advance?
I plan all my vacations in advance but don't pull the trigger until the date gets closer (within 1 month).
When I was pregnant, I was planning a vacation to Disney in May (this month). I thought it would be ok with a 2 month old and a 2yo. Thank goodness we didn't book it in advance. It's hard enough walking to the park a few blocks away with 2 kids for an hour.
Everything is planned for disney though. As soon as we are up for it, I'll just have to book flights and hotels. The itinerary is pretty much already planned.
eta: I wouldn't book a cruise a year in advance. I wouldn't do that whether I was planning to expand my family or not. I feel like it is hard to predict work schedules and future personal obligations that far in advance.

i'd say get refundable tickets/travel insurance. Some places allow you to cancel and provide a full refund within a certain amount of time (some even up to just 24 hours before you go).

I got lucky and planned my vacation and then got preggo when I wanted to so I will be preggo when I go away, but only about 4 months, so it's perfect!

I guess I know that but the deals for advance booking are hard to pass up!

I always planned everything when I want to! I dont care if I'm pregnant, whether it 3 weeks or 8 months, when I go away. I went to Disney (drove down) at 6 months preggo twice!

ITA.
I could NEVER book anything 9-12 months in advance, there are too many 'what if's' especially with having 2 small ones already and possibly being pregnant with #3
I'm a HUGE planner so I like to have things somewhat set up but don't end up booking until I KNOW we're able to go.

I plan about 3-4 months in advance. You still get the advance rates (somewhat)... and don't run the risk of pushing to deliver during your vacation.
It is a PITA to cancel a cruise (just did so for a family member who had surgery) and travel insurance tacks on an extra $100 or more per person... for what is not a complete rebate.

I plan them 4-5 months in advance. Domestic trips, probably 2 months.

Re: If you're not done having kids, do you plan vacations in advance?
I just booked today for September to go to Disney...I usually book 4-5 months in advance. I dont plan on getting PG with #2 until winter, I did think I was PG this month, bc I am super careless with my BCP.
I went on a cruise when I was 16 weeks pregnant....with a cruise you ave to be careful bc after a certain time they dont allow you on teh boat. I had to get a doctors note signed that I wasnt past 34 weeks(i think)

Re: If you're not done having kids, do you plan vacations in advance?
We always plan our vacations in advance. DH does not have a job where he can just pickup & leave under short notice. With that said, we usually look for 6-9 months from the time we are at now.
We are currently looking into the Disney cruise out of NY for next May but that will be a high demand trip, so that is why we are trying to plan now

We just booked a cruise for next march, I'm pregnant now but the we knew we wanted to go away soon and were trying to figure out the best age. We only had to put down a deposit which is fully refundable, and full payment isn't due until December which by then I figure I would be booking a vaca for march anyway so it was a win win for us

We booked a cruise 8 months out and we didnt care. If I am pregnant, I still want to go. Just know tha tmost cruises wont let you go if you are over 24 weeks pregnant, so that is something to keep in mind!

Oooh that is good to know! So the deposit is refundable and you're not obligated to pay anything before December? You can cancel anytime up until December? What cruise line? Did you get insurance?
