If you've ever had an MRI...
We are awaiting MRI results for a very close family member, and the doctor wants them to come in to the office today for the results. Is this always a bad thing? I'm a nervous wreck!
Everytime I've had an MRI where the results were negative, my doctor would just tell me over the phone.
TIA!

Meh. I always went in for my MRI results (ive had them on my shoulders, chest, head, lower abs, hips, and knees) just routine. That way if you have questions they can talk it out. I appreciate being sat down and spoken to and not some phone call.

Re: If you've ever had an MRI...
I've had an MRI as well as numerous other tests done in my time. Usually, in my experience, when the doctor wants to discuss them in person it doesn't mean the results are bad necessarily but it often (with me, at least) means that they want to explore a new diagnostic option - maybe the test results weren't clear or pointed to a different theory than what was originally on the table and so they may order new/different tests to figure things out and clarify.
Good luck to you and your family

If you've ever had an MRI...
I've had doctors schedule a follow up before the mri to discuss any results, but not had doctors tell me to call for results, and then say come in to discuss, without giving me an overview. I think I've always gotten at least an overview by phone as soon as results come in. I have had the mri place say they can't discuss with me, that I need to speak with my dr, and in those cases I have asked them to please fax me a copy of the report directly, and they always have.
