I'm being induced on Sunday....please tell me your experience if you were too
I'm being induced Sunday night. I don't feel so great about it, but at my wits end at this point. Baby is measuring very big and they basically think that if I'm going to have a chance in hell to push him out naturally, they want to start on Sunday. Obviously if I have issues they'll do a c.
But i'm to report to the hospital on Sunday night and they'll start me on Cervadil (sp?). Any of you who started out this way, can you walk me through what to expect? I'm freaking out....

cervadil is like a little mini tampon, once its in its best to not get up and pee if you dont have to. It helps soften the cervix but can fall out. It did nothing for me!
After a night of that...nothign so they started Potocin...ok, im not gonna lie, the contractions started right away but My dr gave my the epi..its wasnt really that bad...picture really bad period cramps times maybe 5...livable but no fun....

Re: I'm being induced on Sunday....please tell me your experience if you were too
i was induced with both my children and if i have a third i will also elect to be induced ....
both inductions were successful and no c section was needed ...
my second induction went very quickly and the cervidil; put me into labor without pitocin at all ....very quick ....
after the cevidil is put in you will wait 12 hrs and you are unable to pee for the 1st 2 hrs then you can get up
after the 1st 12hrs you are checked and if successful the pitocin will be started very slowly at first then increased every 1/2 hr
if not successful then another round of cervidil will be put in they will only do the cervidil 3 times if no luck then a c section will be done ....

Re: I'm being induced on Sunday....please tell me your experience if you were too
I was induced at 38 weeks b/c of high BP. I was 1-2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. I was supposed to have cytotec, but I had too many contractions to have that. I didn't feel any of them though. I was going to have cervadil instead, but for some reason, the doctor decided to just give me pitocin. The dosage of pitocin was increased every hour. I didn't really start feeling the contractions until the doctor broke my water several hours later. The contractions were pretty painful and I had an epidural 4 hours after my water broke. I never progressed past 4-5 cm and ended up with a c-section.

They started me on Cervadil (my water broke, no contractions..this happened at home). Cervadil was in for 12 hours. Did nothing. Then they started the pitocin. I got to 2 CMs. After 30 hours of total *labor*, I ended up in a c section. I do know quite a few people that once the pitocin starts, they go quickly. My body just didn't take to any induction.
Best of Luck.

Re: I'm being induced on Sunday....please tell me your experience if you were too
Ok, so is it safe to say that with the Cervadil, I can't move much at all in the beginning? Should I expect to be in pain during that time or does that just all depend on if my body reacts with contractions or not?
I'd like to be able to move around during contractions (if possible) but if the cervadil could fall out, then I guess I can't. I'm just trying to visualize the process the best I can....

Re: I'm being induced on Sunday....please tell me your experience if you were too
I was induced both times, v-births both times. Went in the night before for the cervidil and then the next day they were here.
With my first the cervidil went in and then about 12 hours later they started pitocin. DD was born about 8 hours later.
With my second the cervidil went in and then a few hours later I went into hard labor, DS was born about 7 hours after the cervidil went in. It would have been closer to 6 hours but the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice and kept him from moving down faster.
Good luck!

I was induced all 3 times after being dilated slightly, so pitocin only.
It was a GREAT experience.

Re: I'm being induced on Sunday....please tell me your experience if you were too
I was induced at 39 weeks. I went into the hospital around 8PM. I was told to undress, sat in the bed, hooked up to IV, did all of the paperwork etc. They administered the drugs and told me about the entire process. I started having contractions shortly after and my water broke about 12 hours later. I was hooked up to a BP monitor and to a baby monitor. I gave birth at 6:09PM the following night. Being induced was not a big deal, everything was a-ok!
