I'm not sure if everyone knows this...
smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors have an expiration date.
Some units are good for five years, some ten. Please check your units!!!
My dad was in the fire department many years ago and I still remember learning this as a kid.

Thanks for the reminder.
We found out the hard way a few years ago. My mom came home and the CO2 detector was going off. She tried to reset it but it didnt stop. She called the gas company and they told her to get out of the house and call the fire dept.
They came, checked out the house and head fireman told my mom it looks like the detector went bad. We check them every year now for their expiration dats
