I have no suggestions, just wish you all the best.
I am wondering though, how do you know someone is Jewish? I mean can't they lie?
good question.. I'm surprised any faith would require this. I saw the explanation but technically my mother's mother was jewish does that mean I am?
And if she's carrying and birthing the child wouldn't that factor in?
Good Luck!
yup, according to jewish law you are jewish.
Yup, you would be considered Jewish by Jewish law, unless your mother converted.

Um, YES, you are Jewish. If the mother is Jewish, so is the child. Just because you weren't raised under the Jewish faith, that does not mean that you are not still Jewish.
What if someone converted along the way though? I thought Ashkenazi jews had certain physical distinguishing characteristics (I know when PG they ask since they are more likely to be carriers of certain things).

The thing about Judaism tough: it's the only religion that also dictates your racial background. One can convert all they want: they will not stop being Jewish because of it! They will just not follow the Jewish religion!
I always find it pretty ironic... in lieu of all the horrors of European history.
To the OP: I would talk to rabbis, reach out to local congregations and Jewish communities... Post on chat rooms catering to Jewish communities: Jewish moms, Jewish anything!!
You and your plight are in my thoughts!

So if someone far back from you converted without your knowledge is there anyway for you to find out if you are indeed Jewish by race?

That was my point; if someone converted TO Judaism, not from Judaism to another religion. If I converted to Judaism, would it be my religion, but not my racial background since i wouldn't share the physical characteristics?

2boys4me, that is a very interesting question: I never though of it that way. Me, I know that I am "safe" for about 4-5 generations back, but who knows what has happened before... Of course, if anyone did "sneak in" before then their blood has long been complitely diluted out by all the Jews that came after!
nov04libride, to me, and this is my opinion ONLY, of course: it would be only your religion. Someone Jewish is someone who was BORN from a Jewish mother and has Jewish DNA.
However, Jewish institutions recognize children born from mothers who converted to Jewish religion, as Jews. So, no issues there... So, I guess it depends how each individual feels...
So, going back to the OP: I understand completely why she is searching for a Jewish egg donor. I am sure I would have been as well, if I was in her situation. Wishing her a lot of luck!

Re: In need of a Jewish egg donor
have you tried calling some of the jcc's in your area? perhaps their adult and family services department may be able to help and guide you.
or try the uja federation.
http://www.ujafedny.org/network-agencies-directory/
lastly, you may want to consult with an orthodox rabbi. i know of some great ones on LI and NYC if you are in this area.

Another idea is Hadassah.
I found this link for you, to The Patricia and Russell Fleischman Center for Women’s Health.
They have an egg donation program as well as other fertility programs.

Re: In need of a Jewish egg donor
My brother was adopted. He had a mikvah (sp?) and he is jewish.
Not sure if that's acceptable but is that an option? After the baby is born, having a mikvah?
I know this sounds very simple but not sure what the ultimate goal is for you guys.
I wish you the best of luck.
Another choice is asking a distant family member or friend to donate an egg.
