Infant Carrier, Travel System...???
I am planning on registering soon, and I am so confused!
The infant carrier/snap & go is the car seat and stroller for the baby when she is small...the first few months?
A travel system is a car seat/stroller for when they are bigger?
Do we register for one, or both?
Thank you!

Re: Infant Carrier, Travel System...???
Most infant carriers hold babies up to 30lbs. Some people get the snap n' go b/c they don't want to haul the entire stroller (travel system) when the baby is an infant. It is a lighter option....but then you use the stroller when the baby gets older...HTH!

Re: Infant Carrier, Travel System...???
Okay a lot of your question is personal choice. The travel system is a stroller that comes with the car seat so all you need is a stroller and carseat - you strap the car seat into the regular stroller or you put the baby directly into the stroller. The pro is that you have one stroller - the con is that you have one big stroller that is heavy to lug around. But some people love this option. Most car seats go to 22 lbs (some go up to 30 lbs - but I don't think a lot of moms use them that long as after a while they get very hard to carry - so kids use the infant seat from anywhere to 4-12 months - boys tend to outgrow them quicker than girls but depends on your child's size.). DD was 9lbs 4 oz at birth but she was in her seat until 11 months.
I didn't get a travel system I got a snap and go, car seat, and a zippy by inglesina. I used the snap n go for quick errands, when DD was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her, restaurants when I wanted the stroller. I used the zippy (I took DD out of the carrier to use the zippy) when I was taking walks in the neighborhood, longer trips at the mall, trips to the city etc.
DD didn't like to be her car seat for long periods of time so this worked best for us. The best thing about the snap n go is it takes us less room than a regular stroller so it is good if you will be putting a lot in your trunk. Also it is very lightweight so I didn't have to bother with a heavy stroller when doing a quick errand.
The best way to see what works is to go to the store test them out and then think about what you will want them for.

Thank you for all this info...this makes sense to me. What do you use when the baby grows out of the infant carrier/snap n go? Is there another car seat for babies when they outgrow the infant carrier to also fit in the snap n go?

No at that point they would go into a regular car seat that stays in the car. They would use the stroller that came with the travel system or another stroller that you chose.

No you are done with the snap n go when they outgrow the infant carrier - but at least the snap n go is only about $50-60 if I remember correctly - for us- it was the best thing I bought as I said b.c it was light weight and easy to just throw in and out of the car.
When they out grow the snap n go we used the zippy - although more recently I bought a Maclaren (which I'm not so crazy about) and a Jeep jogger (which I love) - but that has nothing to do with outgrowing the snap n go. You just use the other stroller you got (or you could get one at that time if you didn't before.
Honestly over time I find you need different strollers for different things. Most moms I talk to have a few they got over time for one reason or another.
Unfortunately now I have to decide what I want to do b.c I need a double and the snap n go won't work b.c DD is too young to go out without a stroller esp since she won't hold my hand these days. But I will use the snap n go if one of us takes the baby out without DD.
