Injection question for IVF
Ok so my RE office just sent a HUGE packet for my injections and all these forms I have to fill out. I wanted to fall over and die! I've never seen so many papers to fill out and so many instructions!!! I was reading and it says one of the injections I'll have to do has to be in my stomach!?!? Is this true!? I think it was lupron...not 100% sure which one it was but I'm so scared its going to hurt! Please tell me I'll be fine and its not going to hurt I'm so scared. I'm such a baby!! I can't wait to get started and get this over with and me PG!! Sorry for my rant. Its just all becoming so real!

Re: Injection question for IVF
OK, deep breath. The injections for IVF are in 2 places: your lower abdomen(small needle injected into pinched skin) and your butt (larger needle but not painful). Your RE should be providing an injection teaching class or access to video injection teaching online. I know it's scary at first but it's really not that bad. My DH did all of my injections and we had no problems at all. GL!

Ok taking a nice deep breath... I think the nurse said DH and I have to take a class to learn everything but I'm still so scared. DH is freaken out about having to give me the needles. We are both a mess lol does the needle in the stomach hurt? Warn me now of everything please

My DH was the same way, but he totally stepped up to the plate and did all my injections. I used to be absolutely petrified of needles, but to be honest, they don't hurt and you get used to it pretty quickly. If you ice the area for a couple of minutes before, pinch the skin and then inject, you won't even feel it!
G/L!

Re: Injection question for IVF
It's not nearly as bad as it seems. I found it easier to do the stomach injections myself and have DH do the butt injections. Once you do one, you'll see it's not so bad. I think the idea of it is much worse than the actual event.

Re: Injection question for IVF
I just wanted to add that the injections are really not painful at all. To be honest, the blood tests are more painful IMO! I did not do any icing of stomach beforehand. All I did was firmly pinch some skin on my belly and to be honest I hardly felt a thing. The butt shots didn't hurt at all going in but there was some soreness afterwards. A heating pad and massage helped with that. GL!

Re: Injection question for IVF
It is all very overwhelming to look at but really its not bad at all...For me, I didnt even know DH stuck me until he told me and thats no joke !...The IM ones in the tush (for me anyway) were by far definately way way easier than I had imagined, those were the ones I was scared of and I'd do it all over again in a heart-beat...Good Luck, you'll do great !!!!
ETA- I never iced the area first and still didnt feel anything

Re: Injection question for IVF
You will absolutely be fine. Believe it or not - the Lupron injection, which does go into the stomach, doesn't hurt at all. Just pinch the skin - I swear you won't feel it.

Re: Injection question for IVF
I have not started quite yet, but I have learned through this process that things are not always what they seem. I am sure the needles and box of meds is overwhelming, but it will be old hat in just a few days and well worth it in the end!
