We found a lady to take it but she wants $100, my mil is gonna try and get some money together hopefully.

Awesome! I always scrounge up a donation too towards the vet bills when I get an animal into rescue. Good work to you & your MIL!

It's a lady in her house I think, my mil talked to her. I dunno what we r gonna do cuz fil is flipping out he don't have the money, n me n bf are literally broke.

Did you call Save-a-Pet that jonsgirl suggested? I know she PMed you about it and I posted its phone number. Ask them if they would take it, if they hesitate, ask them if they would take it if people donated towards its care. Please don't give it to some woman who is not licensed to care for animals.

I just called them and they said that are too poor take it, which was disappointing, but to call Guardians of Rescue in Smithtown as they are very good. 631-891-8430
I left them a message.
It seems amazing that no one wants to help, considering that charity groups get vet care at a discount.

I know I'm also shocked that no one wants to help, how can they call themselves vets and rescues but will turn a little kitten away.

Im not sure we're you're located but someone I mentioned this to said that if you walk into Sayville Animal Hospital with it they will take it.

How have you done? Any leads? If the kitten is young, 6-8 weeks, it can definitely be socialized after being taken care of.
The Animal Rescue Fund in Wainscott seconded Guardians of Rescue and also suggested trying the:
North Fork Animal League

It takes in animals from Rocky Point to Greenport.

Your town's animal shelter will take it, I just called them. It will reopen at 9:30 am. They have to take stray animals by law because it is run by public tax money.

Is Brookhaven a kill shelter? Lady isn't calling back so we r at square one again. I love animals, went to school for vet assistant, but this whole experience makes me not wanna pick up any animals off the street anymore and that's sad.

Call it in the morning, tell it the story and ask them what they would do. Probably they would evaluate the kitten first to see if it can be saved. Maybe if you offered to try to get it a home after it was healthy again, they would work with you. Meanwhile leave a message with Guardians and see what they say.
How is the little thing doing?

I called Brookhaven day one, the guy said they were closed and their vet was private. It seems to be doing ok, eats everything I give it. We made a lil enclosure for it n he broke out during the night, I caught him walking around... it's so sad how it's walking on the leg. It's like it's not even attached, it gets bent every way, from the shoulder. My dogs discovered it, that was funny how they are running from this lol thing n it just sits there growling.

Southampton is not a kill shelter. But, it won't take a kitten from out of the township.

Call news12 and tell them not one shelter or organization would take the cat and name names, I'm sure someone will want to take the cat if they see the story,
Have you tried little shelter in Huntington ? They have lots of cats...

These leads are all very valid for injured animals. Guardians of Rescue will travel to you to get the animal and they are fantastic.
