Re: intermittent fasting

Wanted to update:

After hitting a plateau with IF, I decided to go back to mindful eating and gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks. It’s so frustrating!!! I’m hoping it’s just my body adjusting because gaining before summer is NOT the plan!

I also made the decision that I am tired of hiding behind my tankinis and picked up 2 bikinis to throw in the mix this summer - that was before I gained the 4 lbs though and now I look at the bikinis in anger.

I’ve always struggled with my weight since puberty. I know it’s not bad to be 10-15 lbs overweight and shouldn’t complain much, but I’m just uncomfortable in my skin with the extra pounds. And now that 44 is 2 months away, it gets harder and harder

Do you have an activity tracker? I have a Garmin watch and find it to be very useful in holding me accountable for getting daily steps in.

Do you know if you are insulin resistant by chance?
My husband struggled with his weight since childhood and no amount of dieting or exercise ever worked to make him lose more than a few pounds here or there and they always came back on.
Since finding out he is insulin resistant he realized he has to eat in a different way than the average person. Since then he lost all the weight and kept it off for almost 4 years now with no issues.
Everyone is different and what works for one person doesn't always work for another. Or even for the same person at a different stage in their life. Especially in the presence of insulin resistance.
Just something to check into maybe

I’m pretty sure that was checked at some point over the years. Doesn’t mean I’m not now. I can bring it up to the dr. I’m due for my physical soon.

The thing is when I watch every morsel of food I consume, I can lose weight and keep it off. The problem is who the f?ck wants to live that way? So trying stuff like IF, weight watchers, low carb, no dairy, etc helps me still have some sort of “life” without feeling like my every waking moment is about what I can and cannot eat. I’m so annoyed I gained 4 lbs. looking back it was the fruit I was eating! Fruit!!!! I cut up tons of fruit and kept it in containers in the fridge to reach for Instead of cookies or chips. I went into my food tracker and it seems I was eating like 700 calories in Just fruit some days. I was better off with a handful of chips.

I have an Apple Watch. I almost always hit my daily goals. It has nothing to do with movement and exercise and everything to do with what I’m putting in my mouth. I LOVE FOOD. and it’s a daily struggle with choices.

Yep, fruit will do it. It's full of sugar. So yeah it's "healthier " but it's calorie dense if you don't watch. Super annoying that you'd have been better off with a small portion of something less "healthy ".
Same with nuts, avocado etc. Super healthy, whole food, nutrient dense but the calories will get ya on those too.
And yep, weight loss is like 80% what you eat and only 20% exercise.
And food is life to me, so I hear ya!

F that fruit - 1 apple a day and that’s the end of that. What BS.

Anyway ... 2 full days IF and staying at 12-1400 calories and down 3.2lbs
So hoping by the end of the week I get rid of the “fruit weight” and get back on track.

LMAO- F the fruit!! LOL
It's funny because before DH lost all his weight he had being diagnosed with a fatty liver. He rarely drinks at all, so we know it wasn't alcohol related. It was truly from diet. And the doctor told him something very interesting- the sugar in fruit- fructose- can only be processed by your liver- so guess what can lead to or elaborate a fatty liver? Yep- too much fruit!
People look at him like he's nuts when he tells them he can't eat fruit. It's always looked at as so healthy- but honestly, in many cases, not so much!

Glad you're making progress! Hope it keeps trending the right direction!

Re: intermittent fasting

After a long back and forth of starting and stopping & gaining and losing the same 3-4 lbs., I have now officially lost 8 lbs in just under 3 weeks. I’ve been doing the IF and weight watchers combined. I stay within my points but under 12-1300calories during my 8 hour eating window. Sometimes I stretch it to 6 hour eating window. The first week was hard. Second week way easier, and this week has been a breeze. I was so busy running errands yesterday after getting out of work early that I didn’t break my fast until 5 pm (I normally break at 12) and I felt totally fine.
6.6 lbs until my final goal and then I’ll begin to really work on gaining some muscle back. But for this week, my goal is to be down 1.6 lbs by Saturday. Baby steps
