invisalign braces
anyone get these?
I had braces back in the day. I think I got them off around 14 years old.
Now... I'm 34 and my bottom teeth are shfting. I feel like I'm going to need something b/c they're pushing one tooth out. Anyone have any experience?
Ugh... the thought of going back to an Orthodontist

I had invisalign, the really did work. I also had braces back in the day. my teeth went right back bc I stopped wearing the retainer. It's a PITA bc I couldn't really speak well w/ the invisilagn, but most ppl can ( I had a lisp LOL)

Re: invisalign braces
I got them before I got married. I too had braces when I was in HS and didn't wear my retainer. You wear the trays for two weeks and change to the next one. They slightly shift your teeth with each new tray. You keep them in unless you are eating or drinking something other than water. You are supposed to brush your teeth before you put the tray back in after eating, although some people told me they didn;t do this. I think it is totally worth it. Like PP said, you may have a little bit of a lisp while getting used to wearing th trays, but it is not terrible.

Re: invisalign braces
DH just had invisalign braces. He too had regular braces as a kid. The invisalign was a big expense but it really has made a big difference in his smile. His top teeth are perfectly straight. His bottom are not as perfect but you barely see them. Since it was such a big expense he was very very much on top of wearing them correctly. He currently wears the retainer at night.

Re: invisalign braces
I just started in October! I never had braces as a child. And believe me, I more than needed them. I have two front buck teeth and all my bottom teeth are crooked and overlapped. Plus I have an overbite.
5 years ago I asked my dentist about Invisalign for me and he told me that I'd be a tough case for it, particularly with my overbite. However, just recently, I decided I needed to do this for myself and asked again. Invisalign has come a long way in 5 years and I am now on my 5th set of trays (a little more than 10 weeks). My process will take exactly a year (I have 26 trays for my upper and 24 trays for my lower). (Traditional braces average about 2 years for my case).
I posted on the Health board when I first started. It was tough! I had a hard time getting the trays off and I have these buttons on my teeth to help the aligners grip and rotate some teeth. Seemed a little unsightly to me. However, only 10 weeks in and it us much easier now getting them on and off. I wear them 24/7, unless I am eating. I only drink water when I have them in. In a pinch, I have had tea or I drink through a straw.
It is an expense, and we don't carry dental insurance, but I was able to get a 2-year pay off plan interest free. Made it much more manageable. My teeth cost less per month than my DH's car payment Some dental insurance may cover it all or a portion, so check if you have dental insurance.
I really can't wait to see the end results (I have seem them on the computer in a 3D model, but I mean in my mouth ). It was a long time coming for me and I couldn't be happier doing it now.
ETA: my regular dentist is doing mine. He is a preferred provider. I did not need to see an orthodontist per say.
