Re: Is anyone watching the Derek Chauvin's murder trial?
Posted by seaside
The last time I felt like I was in bizzaro world because of trolling on social media and platforms, I used this article to clarify a few things. It's a great article.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/17/opinions/stop-calling-russian-operatives-troll-farms-geltzer
I have no way of knowing who is a professional troll and who is a bullying troll emboldened by anonymity and who is trying to engage in civil conversation, but can't------but it doesn't really matter. I have no desire to accuse, or even engage with posters who come across as one kind of troll or the other. On the internet, you are perceived as you behave.
U have no desire to engage with certain posters but u def have a desire to talk ‘about’ them. That’s pretty laughable!

Is anyone watching the Derek Chauvin's murder trial?
Back to the actual topic, is anyone watching today? This defense "expert" is so much of what is wrong with the system. If this guy is who is training LE no wonder we have huge issues. I was sick to my stomach listening to him.

I can't believe some of the things I'm reading on this thread. George Floyd died that day because he was murdered by Derek Chauvin. Period. End of story. I can't wrap my head around anyone thinking differently. It's on video. How much clearer can it be?
People just like to argue for the sake of arguing.
I wonder how fairly he will be treated in jail?
Can someone please show me where anyone is defending Chauvin? Bringing up Floyd’s level of intoxication is not defending Chauvin.
This is the only comment on this thread I took issue with... It’s not blaming the victim. If you have ACTUALLY been watching the trial and not the narrative that has been put forth to prepare for rioting then you would know there were other cameras that showed his knee on Floyd’s shoulder, not neck. There are so many MAJOR details that have been under or non-reported about this case it’s gross. The prosecution is crumbling.
I have ACTUALLY been watching the trial. His knee changed position just before EMT's arrived. For a majority of that time, Chauvin's knee was on his neck. Medical examiners and doctors have said repeatedly Floyd would not have died that day if not for Chauvin. This particular poster, yes I do tend to lean towards her hoping Chauvin gets acquitted.
Yeah, that’s me. To be clear I DO NOT want or think Chauvin should be acquitted. I just think that people are so quick to rush to judgment when so much work, information and analysis goes into arguments in a case such as this. And, in the event the desired outcome is not reached (conviction) there will be violence and destruction in the streets because the narrative was formed before the case could get to trial. I have faith in our justice system and believe the correct verdict will be reached.

I just tuned in about an hour ago. I am surprised at the testimony. He doesn't really come across as an expert.

I didn't listen to his entire testimony but I didn't hear him refer to any research or specific policy once. Everything I heard was about how he was trained and what he trains others to do with no rationale to back it up.

Can you elaborate on the narrative part?

The media has set this all up for a riotous outcome if there is anything less than a murder conviction. Listening to the entire case-this is a very complex, shaded case that is not simply “open and shut” as many chose to believe. The prosecution has also done a terrible job at proving this was a crime motivated by race as the media also puts forth. When the narrative is manipulated in such a way nothing good comes from it. Racial tensions and the divide will continue to grow.
