Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
We started using wipes right away with DS and his butt got red so we didn't use wipes for a couple of weeks. Once we started again he was fine.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
our dr actually told us not to use wipes and was pretty adamant about it! We didnt use wipes for the the first month or two...used cotton wipes they sell at babysrus or from cvs (make up remover cotton pads worked great too!) wasnt a big deal, had a lil basin we put warm water in when it was time to change dd and then wet the wipe! later we switched to pamper sensitive

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
The hospital used Pampers Sensitive from day one and sent me home with a bunch. They never suggested otherwise.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
I used Pampers Unscented and Sensitive right from the beginning. They also told us no butt creams and my son developed such a bad diaper rash. With my second, I am using wipes and butt creams rights from the beginning.

The NICU used the clothes that you would wet yourself. Then when they came home, what would have been 36 weeks if I was still pregnant with them, we used regular wipes. Never had any issues.
This exactly.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
In the NICU the nurses only used wet papertowels (they were softer than a normal papertowel though), I don't think they even had baby wipes in there. Our ped recommended not to use baby wipes for a while, I think we waited 2-3 weeks.
Down the road DD had a few bouts of bad diaper rash and I think the baby wipes made it worse. When she had a rash we went back to using tissues and water and that made a huge difference. I would NOT use baby wipes on irritated skin, just adding that in!

We used the cloth like paper towels at the hospital but switched to wipes as soon as we got home.

we used the cloths in the hopsital and hated them. Since we came home, we've been using pampers sensitive wipes.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
I used Viva paper towels (they are really soft) with water for a week or two and then switched to wipes without a problem.

Same here but we waited to use wipes until DS was 3 months old. It really was no big deal to use papertowels over wipes.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
yup. They have special thick paper towels when you give birth, TAKE AS MANY AS YOU CAN!
A nurse at LIJ kept bringing in packages of those thick paper towels and kept pushing me to take them . Another great thing to use is Viva paper towel . I used them first few weeks. Then switched to pampers sensitive baby wipes.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
I have not used wipes on either of my DD's until just 2 weeks ago...... DD#1 is 2.5 and DD#2 is 8 months.
Moistened VIVA, never a diaper rash.
Wipes, 2 rashes on DD#2 even with using "sensitive" wipes.

Re: is it true no baby wipes for first couple weeks?
I used paper towels for the first two weeks and then I had enough of that and started using wipes. Probably will be going straight to wipes this time around.
