Is it "wrong" to only invite girls to DD's 5th b-day party?
DD wants a girly birthday party with a Hello Kitty theme at our house. I will probably end up hiring some sort of entertainment like a clown too (face painting, magic tricks, sand art necklaces). Is it wrong to exclude the boys or do you think they would still enjoy this type of party?

I think it's totally fine to have a girls-only party!

I think it's fine too!! When I was 5, all I wanted were girls at my party!

We did. It was a spa party so it was girls only.
While I felt bad about it at first, DH & I were highfiving each other as we loaded the car afterwards...you only get HALF of the gifts!!

This is a perk! Since DD is insisting on having it at home I also only have to deal with half the kids!

Hi jenny,
I just saw this, Would you mind telling me how the party turned out. I am thinking of having a party like this for Ava at the house. Did the parents stay? What games/activities did you do? Etc. Thanks. Denise

We ended up doing the party at The Little Ladies Club in Hicksville. It was an awesome party and much easier than doing it at our house.

Even if my child had only same sex friends in school, I'd be reluctant to exclude the friends of mine who have children of the opposite sex. For a spa party, I can understand but for something at home, I would think that there is a way to include everyone. I realize this is a bumped thread anyway but it's an interesting topic. Maybe I'll change my mind as DS gets older.

You'll change your mind when laser tag parties charge $17/kid
When they're a little older we switched to having a school party at a place & a family party (with close friends only) at home.

Re: Is it "wrong" to only invite girls to DD's 5th b-day party?
Thanks Jenny, Oh yeah, the famous little Girls Club, LOL. We went there for a birthday party last year. We loved it. But at $40 a kid?? NO WAY........
I was thinking of copying their ideas but doing it at the house. Ava is only going to be 4 and hasn't even asked for anything. She would love a BBQ and pool party, I just feel bad because we do that every year. Her bday is on the 4th of July, LOL.
Should I wait and do the place once she starts to catch on and ask for it... She is such a litle girly girl though. I was also thinkign of hiring someone from maybe craigslist to come and do hair/nails maybe a teenager.. I can't find anyone like that. Anyone interested, LOL. Ava has plenty of dress up clothes, so I was also thinkin maybe a mini fashion show through my house, then out to the pool. LOL. but then they would mess up their Mani/pedi's. I don't know what to do.. Any ideas??
Hi Barbara! :) How are you?? :)
