is motherhood everything you'd thought it'd be?

i have to be honest - i thought this would be waaaaaay easier. nothing in the world could prepare me for the sleepless nights, the constant worrying, the watching-her-like-a-hawk-at-all-times

what did you think being a mommy would be like?

I was pretty spot-on.... my gut said that sleep and a clean home would soon be a faint memory..... and I was right...

But I love my little baguette so much Chat Icon He's worth all of it and more.... and now that he's exploring his environment (he's almost 7 mo), we're having more fun every day Chat Icon

Yes and no. The good parts are even better than I thought they would be, the hard parts are harder than I thought. But nothing is a big surprise.

This pretty much sums it up..the one thing I really didn't know bad it would be was sleeping..and all the troubles I had with latching on/BFing. But it's all worth it Chat Icon

Re: is motherhood everything you'd thought it'd be?

I thought it would be a lot harder. I think because I thought it would be so difficult, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Motherhood is so much more rewarding and wonderful than I thought it would be. I savor every moment I get to spend with DS. Of course there is the occasional feeding that I have to do when I'm absolutely exhausted but it's all worth it at the end.

Much harder than I thought!! I love my boys so much but the no sleep is killing me. Twins is nothing that I could have ever planned for. I wish they would sleep at the same time. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have just one, but then I think how I love both of them so much. They are so adorable but exhausting!!

I now realize what everyones talks about when they tell you, "you will never be the same!" This is so true in such an amazing way!!! My priorities have shifted and I look at life in a while different way!! I just feel really lucky!! He makes me slow down and appreciate what life is all about!!!

p.s. I pretty much knew that sleep deprivation would be part of it....lol...I somehow knew my DC would not be sleeping the entire night through...glad I prepared myslef b/c now I'm not so surprised....lol!!

Re: is motherhood everything you'd thought it'd be?

i had NO idea how attached i would be to my DS. how making him laugh would make me laugh and cry (happy tears). how seeing him do something new would amaze me, even if was something as small as a new, funny noise. how i still, although he is 7.5 months old, check on him several times a night to make sure he is okay.

i never knew how satisfying it would be to know that for the first 5 months of DS's life, i was able to provide all the nourishment he needed to grow. Chat Icon

i did not know that i would have to function on no sleep some nights. or how happy i would be to get 6 hours of sleep in a row - i was like a new woman!

i never realized how most things i do are NOT second nature, and that i would need a lot of help Chat Icon from other mommies who would guide me.

i never knew that i would secretly love it when DS was sad and only wanted me.

so, in short, it turns out that i knew absolutely nothing about being a mom - and it is MORE than i ever thought it could be Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: is motherhood everything you'd thought it'd be?

I knew it would be hard, but it is so much harder then I ever thought. I had a really hard time adjusting to being a mother. I do love DS and take very good care of him. I just miss sleeping, and my overal freedom. I have my good days and my bad days.

Re: is motherhood everything you'd thought it'd be?

It's pretty much how I thought it would be. The only thing I find hard about it is finding time for myself. Emerson sleeps through the night and goes down at 7:30 so technically I could relax at night but instead I like to clean, do the dishes and laundry, etc. DH and I cannot handle a messy house and I just won't give up on that. I cannot function in clutter and chaos and I find that when I keep the house organized my day with Emme flows better.

So aside from finding the time to do things motherhood is everything I thought it would be and BETTER!! I never knew I could love someone SO much. DD is my everything, my whole reason for being right now and every minute with her is an absolute joy. I'm crazy in love with her and with being a mom!!
