Is my 5.5 week NB too young to take to the aquarium?
Would you take your 5.5 week old to the aquarium? Do you think he is too young to take?

No - He will enjoy looking at all of the colors of the fish - we took DS at that age and he loved it! 
Edited to say - I thought it was months not weeks, 5.5 weeks probably not.

Month or weeks? Your subject says one and the body says another.
5 months - bring him
weeks - probably too young to appreciate it - not to mention I personally wouldn't bring a newborn to a public place - though I know others would...

We took Ryan at 4 months and he did seem to like to watch the fish - either way, it was a nice family day.

DS is 5.5 WEEKS, not months. I fixed it.
My mom just yelled at me about taking him to the aquarium. She said he is way too young and that I should stay home to stay away from swine flu.

I would not on a regular day, or even during regular flu season at that age, let alone with this Swine flu outbreak.

At 5 1/2w my DD would have slept through the whole thing! We went out at that age but not into very crowded places or ones where lots of people would be interested in seeing a little baby and getting too close (moms, grandmas, and little kids might be very interested and in larger volume at an aquarium). I'd wait until your DS is older and will enjoy it more.

I definitely would not take a 5.5 week old. They will probably sleep right through it, and will be exposed to all sorts of germs. Not worth the risk, IMO.

That's how I feel too. If *I* felt like going to the aquarium, having a 5.5 week old wouldn't stop me. If I were doing it for her, I wouldn't bother.

Exactly! At 5.5 weeks I was taking him everywhere just so *I* could get out of the house!!
