I don't think so. What does the dr say?

Andrew was about that when he was 1 yr old and is now 21 months old and only 23 lbs. He is a peanut.

I was JUST about to post something similar...my son will be 6 months on Saturday and he is 21 lbs 28 inches...and I can't tell you how much people tell me how big he is...its like, I know, I'm not blind, I know how big my son is...but he is a healthy boy and he is growing at his own pace...

ETA: All kids are different...

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

No at 6 months old my youngest was 18lbs 13oz and 26 1/2 inches.

Compared to her sister, she's giant, at that same age her big sister was 15lbs and 26 3/4 inches.

As long as you PED says its okay, i wouldn't care what anyone else says.Chat Icon

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

My son has always been big too. I figure as long as his precentages of weight and length were pretty close than I'm not worried. Poeple always think DS is atealst 2 and he's not even 1.5.

ITA I don't know why people make comments about the size of a baby.

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

I have been getting that since DS was born! He was 9lbs 7oz at birth, and whenever we're asked how old he is, 90% of the responses have been "Wow, he looks older"

I just say "Yeah" and move on.

MIL constantly comments on how DS is too big Chat Icon . So DH asked at his 6 moa ppt if we should worry about his weight (PS it's not THAT bad, bu we needed some ammo for MIL). Ped said right now, no worry.

No I don't think so...

DD was 9lbs 4 oz at birth and people who had babies 5 weeks older than her would say "Oh you don't have an infant - you have a toddler" - Yeah thanks....

DD was 16 lbs 4 oz and 25 inches at 5 months. The ped has always been very happy with DD's weight and height. As long as your ped is happy I wouldn't worry about what other people have to say.

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

Some babies are just bigger than others...

Caden was over 18lbs and almost 27 inches at his 4 months check up and he was 22lbs and over 28 inches at his 6 month check up...(we didnt have a 5 month appointment) His just a big healthy boy!!! (although according to some people he is ABNORMALChat Icon )

We get the comments all the time that he is huge...or that they thought he was older..or the looks of amazement when we tell people how old he is...etc...BUT truth is, especially for my DH, we just feel proud that he is growing so well and is such a BIG STRAPPING BOY!!!!

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

At 10 weeks my son was 16lbs and 25.5 inches. Your son is fine, he is happy and healthy and thats all that matters. Each child grows at different rates.

My niece who is 20 months old is like 21lbs, we keep joking that Christopher is going to outweigh her by his 6 month birthday!

I get this too, more about his length than weight. At 3.5 months, he is 26 inches, and weighed 12 lbs. 12 ounces as of last week. So he's long for his age, but in good health. I disregard it--I think some people just say it to have something to say, some forget children's sizes at different ages, and some are just fools.

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

I hope not, because my DS was over 16 pounds at his 3 month checkup. Ignore people - they say idiotic things.

That's all that matters.

DS is also very tall and big. And he only 7Lbs 13 oz and 21 inches so not huge by all means. I used to hear "what do you feed him? how much formula do you give him?", etc... I would say he is on BM only and leave. Chat Icon

DS looks about 1-2 months older because he is in the 95th percentile.

Re: IS MY SON TOO BIG FOR HIS AGE?

My son is pretty big too, Thankfully his cousins are even bigger, so they get the comments at family gatherings, HA!

Every kid grows at their own pace, if Ped is not concerened that I wouldnt be concerned, no worries.
