is there a way to do crown moulding over this? PIC ADDED
this is for the nursery. i dont want to take the trim down because itll disrupt the entire wall (it's paneling that we are going to paint over). the room won't be a bedroom forever and i don't want to redo all of the walls.
im doing light gray walls and would love big white moulding, but is there a way to go over that? im thinking no. and thinking i may just have to settle for the fact that i can paint that white and have no-so-impressive moulding. Image Attachment(s):

You can add molding to the existing molding. I did that with floor molding after ripping carpet up when the existing molding left a gap. You can absolutely do that with your existing ceiling molding.

Unless you add filler to every slat, you are going to have small hole indents to the walls where the molding meets the slats.

you can do it. Just cut the molding in the corners around it. I think it would look best to put some flat stock against the wall and have the crown meet up with that, and the corner meet up with that. Essentially a 2 piece crown.
the V ridge you could caulk the edge to make it less noticeable.
