Is this a scam...Got a letter about ending my lease early!...UPDATE!! 9/29
This made me very excited but I want to know if this is a scam. The dealership said I can come in and they assess my car and let me know if I can pick a new car and end my lease early

UPDATE..
So I finally went there today. it seems no one knows a damn thing about this letter. I was told over the phone that they would look over my car and decide whether they wanted it.
So the salesperson today said well are you dying to get out of your lease? I said well I want to see what my options are and he said that I would have to pay them a penalty for getting out early. I have a feeling he really didn't know what he was talking about. So we just left.
Really makes me mad. Good thing the dealer is close to my house.

Just call the dealership and ask if they sent it. Or whomever is holding your lease.

I've heard of this, but be careful sometimes there is a catch, sometimes its just a way to sell more cars so it works to your benefit. Call the dealership and ask if they waive the early termination fee on your current lease before you go down there and waste anyone's time

I called and they said they may wave all of my payments or some of them...seems to good to be true! I am going to have my DH come with me. The dealership is very close to our house anyway.

If you confirmed it is from the dealership, it is very legitmate. I don't know what kind of car you have, but I've always had a GM lease and it is possible to turn in your car up to 6 months early (pull-ahead program), as long as you lease your next car from them. They do waive all remaining payments and such.

This happened to me 4.5 years ago when I traded in my Trailblazer & financed my Envoy...They waived all my payments & I turned the car in 7 months early

the following things can take place
a. they pay off the reminder of your lease
b. they roll over your reminder balance to your new vechile
c. the bank holding your lease will waive payment if you lease or fiance another vechile
get the details from your dealership...

I am cautiously optimistic. I called them. They need to see the car and assess the situation. They told me it may be too soon. It is not far from my house, in the same town so I will see what they say. I want to look at the other cars anyway

You've only had the car for a year?? How long is your lease for? They don't usually do that unless you have just a few months left.

Make sure that there is no lease transfer fee in addition to making sure that there are no other catches or penalties. If you have the original lease, check the fine print and see if they even allow early termination.
Chrysler financial told us we were eligible for an early termination to get into another MOPAR, but there were a lot of hidden fees and we would have had to roll some payments into the new lease. We opted not to do it.

Yes I have it for another 2 years so that is why I was wondering why I got the letter anyway.

any updates? i wanted to see how this went.
i rec'd a letter similar - i guess they just have some extra cars on the lot they are looking to move out. i have had friends who did this and it worked out for them - they gave them a deal they were happy with and the dealership was able to move a car out.
i would like to look into this at the end of the year or early next year. we are so happy with our honda but i don't love our toyota as much - i'd like to look into something else.

That's the catch. Never trade in a lease early unless they are waiving ALL the remaining payments plus any disposition fees (ask about this).
Don't let them say "well we will pay most of them". That's not a good deal. If they don't waive all your remaining payments you are essentially PAYING THEM for those months they have your old car. No way Jose!
They will try to make the deal look good by taking that remainding payment and roll it into your new lease payments. That's just a way for them to try to screw you. Don't buy into it.
Either waive them all or no deal.

That sounded to good to be true. I received something similar from my Chevy dealer and they did send it per the manager so they honor and paid all my payments 6 months early and what not. It is sad that they can't admit that they sent it. What did they think you were born yesterday.
I think you should lodge a complaint about that letter to consumer affairs or even the Attorney General. That is a scam and god knows how many were taken for a ride. Typical car salesman.

oh that stinks! i've heard that those types of deals sometimes work out great - i wish it had been that way for you! well, maybe it just wasn't meant to be right now. you'll probably end up getting something better down the road.
