IT or Computer Savy People...I need some help
I'm not very educated when it comes to who makes a better product, why a laser printer is better or worse than a non...
I need to buy a all in one Printer/Fax/Copier machine for a home business. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on ones that you have used???
I could use all the help I can get on this one. I want to get my money's worth, looking to spend no more than $300.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That's a toughie for me to tell you. I just bought one for my employer but it was much more than $300.
I can refer you to CNET.com though to get good reviews on products. HP is very popular but toner is pricey, as it is with most printers.
My FIL just gave me a Dell all in one and it's been ok so far but I don't use it much.

A laser printer has a lot of perks (which is why we own one) but if you dont need the perks, then they are just overpriced.
The printing will not smudge or instaneously run if it gets a tiny bit wet. The ink also sits more on TOP of the paper than soaking into it which if you are doing anything artsy is a good good thing. The resolution while printing is also fab. It also prints very very fast.
The downfall is the ink is pretty expensive but it does last a long time. The printers themselves are also more $$$.
I dont know how much the color printers are but we bought a kickass bw one about a year ago (to do wedding stuff with) and havent changed the ink nor had ANY problems (its an HP)

My Dell laser has been running great for over 3 years now. I have yet to change toners and I think i print plenty of phots, papers, projects, etc....
I would go with laser as it more cost effective then ink jet..

You have been lucky with your Dell printer then.....My friend repairs computers for a living and the Dell printers that he comes by all are garbage. HP makes a better product.

I've managed a bunch of Dell printers without issues. Maybe it's the 99 dollar cheapo printers that are an issue.

I went through several before I got my Brother fax/printer/copier. I am happy with it but it is not my main copier. The all in ones are never good at everything and I needed a higher volume copier that is faster. I can get you the model # tomorrow if you want it.

Re: IT or Computer Savy People...I need some help
When considering any technology purchase, I think it's a mistake to judge an entire brand as bad or good. I used to repair HP's for a living and they had their fair share of problems too, sometimes model specific (like the HPLJ 1100's feeding multiple sheets instead of just 1) but what HP has going for it is that there are a ton of them out there. It's not hard to find someone certified to repair them, or parts.
Same goes with Dell - they are not the be-all end-all and they're not perfect. But I'd rather go with them because it's the devil I know. They have a kick-*** online resource center which I can't say about other manufacturers like Sony.
Basically my point is there's good and bad in every brand. You have to learn more and get model specific if you want to make an educated purchase.
