Italian Christmas Eve - I'm hosting for the first time! What do you think of my menu?
I am hosting my first Christmas Eve. My family is Italian, so we have mostly seafood.
I'm having 10 adults and 6 children.
Here is my menu so far. What do you think? I'm open to any suggestions!
Zeppoles - My Nonna is making Shrimp Cocktail Veggies and Dip
Linguini with Clam Sauce Fried Calamari with Lemon and Marinara Shrimp Scampi Crab Cakes **ANYONE HAVE A GOOD RECIPE** Baked Clams Bacala - My Mom is bringing bc I have no idea how to make it and it STINKS! lol ** I need 1-2 more seafood ideas/recipes **
Chopped Salad Spicy Garlic Broccoli & Couliflower Stuffed Mushrooms & Zucchini Rice Balls - My Nonna is making
I still haven't thought about dessert yet...
ETA: Ideas from you wonderful ladies!

sounds so good. Similar to my Christmas Eve menu when I hosted!
For desserts, we had tiramisu and honey balls (pignolata).
Love homemade zeppoles!
oh we had baked clams and shrimp oreganata on the menu too

How about a zuppe di pesce
or a white fish for anyone who isn't into the other options - like flounder, tilapia etc

They're more of a "stuff your face with them when you get here" kinda thing, LOL We rarely eat them with powdered sugar on them, so it's pretty much fried bread. My Nonna stuffs some with Anchovies for the men!

what about mussels marinana - super easy to make!!
My in-laws grill tuna, swordfish, and lobster tails. That makes life easier and gives the men something to do outside

Re: Italian Christmas Eve - I'm hosting for the first time! What do you think of my menu?
Here is my crab cake recipe. They were kind of a PITA to make however everyone raved about them
Ingredients 4 pounds crabmeat 1 egg 1 tablespoon lemon zest ? teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning TM 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped 1 cup saltine crackers, crushed 1 cup mayonnaise 4 tablespoons vegetable oil 3 egg yolks ? teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning TM 3 ounces fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro salt and pepper to taste 1¾ cups vegetable oil
Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine crabmeat, 1 egg, lemon zest, Old Bay Seasoning, chopped basil, crushed crackers and mayonnaise. Mix thoroughly. Form 5 ounce patties out of the crab mixture (should make about 16 patties), and chill until cold before cooking. In a skillet, heat 4 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Saute the crab cakes for 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. For the sauce, in a blender place the egg yolks, Old Bay Seasoning, lime juice, cilantro, salt and pepper. Blend for 10 seconds. Keeping the blender running, slowly drizzle the oil into the blender. Blend until sauce is creamy.
