I've posted before but now I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. BTDT moms 3.5 months old and rolling in the crib at night. HELP
It's incessant. I roll him on his back, up go the legs, legs fall to the side, and he rolls on his belly.
His hands were swaddled for like the first two weeks and we gave up. He was swaddled chest down from then until the rolling started. Now he is in his sack.
What do I do here? He does not know how to roll from belly to back. He sometimes sleeps on his side, but when he is on his tummy he either sleeps good on the side of his face or on his face with the paci.
I have been up unrolling him for two nights. He on the other hand, is sleeping soundly. He only gets cranky if he wants to roll back and and can't.
Please don't tell me sleep positioner. He pulled one of the roll things off and I found him eating it

I don't know quite understand. So he rolls over, if he is sleeping quietly, than leave him alone. JMO though. DS at 3mos started sleeping on his belly. I didn't move him or anything. Now at 15mos, he sleeps with a blanket over his head. LOL

I've been told that once they roll, it is ok to have them sleep on their belly - since you can't really stop them from doing it.

Nancy, as long as he is not swaddled (I understand that he is in the sleeping sack, right?) its ok to let him sleep on his belly once he rolls over...totally normal bc at this point he can lift his head up on his own. Make sure there is nothing in the crib though.

ITA... DS has been sleeping on his belly since 4 months. I put him on his back and he rolls himself. Nothing you can do. That was actually when he started STTN. AS long as he can pick up his head and has good head contril he's ok

Same here, I always flipped DD back before I went to bed, but she always ended up back on her belly. Once they can rolls, it's okay.

When my second started rolling at 10 weeks I felt exactly the same as you. My pediatrician, while saying she never recommends putting them down on their belly, told me if he rolls to his belly and sleeps, then leave him be.
He's fine- but I totally understand the fear!

DD rolled to her belly at 10 weeks. She had pretty good neck strength and we just left her. She started to sleep 12 hours a night when she did

Ditto...my boys were always trying to get onto their belly's the first few months. THen at 3 months they did it and I left them there. Once they can roll over you can leave them there.

While I agree that he's fine because he's rolling to his belly, ihe incidence of SIDS is highest between 2-4 months old- so the OP is right to feel concerned.

That's what I mean. Sometimes I find him in a position like he is ready to crawl. I know when he is awake he can and does lift his head up (this is where he is frustrated bc I think he wants to roll back over).
It's when he is EXHAUSTED and he puts his hands over his face or tries to nestle the mattress that I freak.
Also, he covers his eyes and rubs his head when he tries to go to sleep. It's the whole hands in his face AND on his belly that has me concerned.

Could you turn his head once he falls asleep? DH's cousin's son slept that way and that's what she did (after she tried the rolling back thing).
I know DS is going to do this too as soon as he can roll - when he falls asleep on me, he nestles into his bib and sleeps face down.

DS sleeps on his back, but he starts out with his hands over his face all the time. he rubs his eyes and falls asleep that way. eventually his arms fall or he moves them. i agree with the other posters. if hes rolling then hes fine. i would just be annoyed everytime he cries that he wants to roll back over.

I don't understand - if he rolls onto his belly if he isn't waking you should just leave him. My ped always said once they can roll it is okay to have them sleep on their belly as long as you put them down on their back.
I will say though that once DD#2 started rolling constantly she couldn't sleep b.c she would roll and then scoot herself into corners that she couldn't get out of.
