IVF and work
I will probably going with IVF, I see dr. Brenner next week. Those of you who are doing it, or had it, how hard is it going to be for me to keep it from my co-workers and employer? Am I going to miss alot of time at work?

Re: IVF and work
I took off the day of the retrieval (that's pretty much necessary).
I told my boss before hand I had an appointment and left it at that.
I took off the day of and after my transfer, even though you don't have too - I wanted the time to myself and I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate at work.
I took them as vacation days ahead of time as well. No one asked.
Really you'll only need one-two days off depending on your clinic's schedule.

This is basically what I did. My 2nd IVF I took the day after my retrieval off too, but that was because I was still pretty sore that morning. I did work from home part of the day though.
Both DH and I took the day of my pregnancy test off just so we could be together to get the news and just in case it wasn't good news, I didn't want to be at work ( I never tested with HPT beforehand).

Re: IVF and work
I've always just taken off the day of retrieval and transfer. I've never taken the day after transfer off, but different Dr's have different protocols.

Re: IVF and work
I took the day of retrieval and day of transfer.
What time do you start work? Melville opens at 6:30, you can get out by 7, as long as you're there early. Then you won't need to worry about getting to work late and explaining that.
Honestly, I just told my boss. I start work at 7, I had to take days off all over the place. I just found it easier. I didn't tell anyone but my boss, though.

Re: IVF and work
My boss is aware of my situation and fortunately has told me that she will give me complete flexibility when it comes to appts etc bc she understands the time sensitivity of everything (she went through it too!) But if you want to keep it private just explain that you have a dr appt or call in sick.

Re: IVF and work
Because the natture of my job, the majority of my friends/coworkers knew. I scheduled myself off the day of retrieval, worked the next day and then took the entire week off following the transfer(s) b/c i couldn't physically do my job. GL
