Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
I am just trying to get together my must have list of items that are necessary before the baby arrives.
We do not do showers in my family, so everyone sends their gifts after the baby arrives. I am trying to stock up on all the immediate necessities I will need the first few days after the baby arrives.. Just incase I do not receive it from family and friends.
I know the hospital sends you home with a lot of items? Would you mind sharing??
Do they give you (pacifiers, diapers, bottles, blankets, onesies, nose aspirator, emery boards, etc... I was just curious on all these things if the hospitals send you home with anything)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

In stonybrook they gave us a couple of pacifiers some sample formula, we took the nose aspirator bc it was in his basinette and they were going to throw it out anyway if we didnt take it. we took some left over diapers - just a few not a whole lot.
they also gave me some lasonil and tucks samples. again not a whole lot just some samples

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
I was at St Catherines and someone told me, every night before you send hte baby to the nursery, take all the diapers and nursette bottles out of the bassinet. They will refill it the next day.
So I did this, then when I was getting ready for discharge the nurse told me take everything I want but the linens from the basinette as they have to throw out everything. Then I asked the nurse for a few extra bottles and pacis.
I left with about 48 NB diapers, 3 pacis, 15 nursette bottles, a thermometer (still the one I like the best) a comb, the nasal 'bulb"...

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
I was in St.Charles.....
They give a Similac diaper bag with a formula sample inside and a few other little samples ( Dreft, Desitin etc.)
You can take the binky the baby is using ( and could always misplace a binky or two while you are there or "forget to send the baby back to the nursery with it ) Usually you can take a few vaseline packets from the cart...
W/ my DS the hospital was very generous with formula etc....They loaded the cart with 4 packs every time They use the ready made bottles with the nipples that you throw away ( very very expensive to buy in stores) With DD they pretty much gave me only enough for every feeding and I "maybe" had 2-3 of those little disposable bottles to bring home with me ...
I took home the babies side snap St.Charles onesie as a keepsake as well as the blanket and hat ( don't think I was supposed to take the blanket though )
No emery boards, nose aspirators or anything else...

I was also a Stony Brook delivery and DS was in the NICU so I got A lot of stuff. First off everything they use on your baby is thrown away after you are sent home so I was able to take each thermometer used by the NICU ( which are the most accurate ones I have used) I took home every blanket they used they send you with a free sample diaper bag that has diapers, formula coupons etc. I got Paci's, a ton of the bottles they use even though ds didnt use bottles.

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
When I was in Good Sam with DD the nurses told me to fill my bag with the dipes and make sure I take the binkie/aspirator (we still use the aspirator, thing is awesome) They also told me I could take formula bottles but I was nursing so I didn't take advantage of that. My roommate did, though, she emptied the cart of them every time it came

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
I think the nurses at SB just loved me or something. LOL.
I had SO much stuff from there.
I took stuff each day and then when i left one of my nurses came in with a HUGE bag. A similac diaper bag, two huge packs of diapers, a box of nursette bottles and extra nipples, extra binkys, vaseline, etc.
I also took a ton of those plastic padded things they put under you and they were a LIFESAVER the first few weeks for on top of the changing pad.
I seriously had enough diapersto last several weeks and formula for about a week too.

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
DS was in the NICU for 6 weeks so we got very friendly with the nurses....needless to say, we left with basically enough formula and diapers to last several weeks. They were so incredibly generous....I guess that's one upside to having a NICU baby

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
I always heard how much people came home with. Both times I delivered - I didn't get too much so I wouldn't count on having much. I got the free Similac/Enfamil bags (whichever the hospital is working with at the time) - which is mostly just a diaper bag and coupons. I got some formula (not a lot - with some nipples),some diapers (again not much), and 1 paci, the first time they gave me a tube of vaseline and pads for after the care of the circumcision. I may have gotten some pads for me along with supplies to keep clean and fresh. I delivered at South Nassau both times. Love the place and staff but didn't get any freebies or much at all.

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
I brought home diapers, formula, a few onsies, a blanket, lots of products for me: mesh undies which I loved, lidocaine gel, numbing spray, butt cream, tons of industrial pads, even a few blue chucks for over my bed sheets, bottle to clean oneself... I know I'm forgetting stuff.

I deivered at StonyBrook and I got a lot of stuff:
-Blankets -The Onsie shirts they have the baby in -A&D oinment -Alcohols swabs -Nose Aspirator -Pacifiers -Lots of diapers...My nurse told me take all that were in his bassinett and gave me two bags full of diapers -Similac foruma and nipples -Similac & Enfamil bags -Breast pump bag

Re: Just a question for the BTDT Moms, What does the hospital send you home with??
LIJ didnt "send" me home with anything. But they did have a fully stocked isolette every day when Jeremy was brought into my room. Id take 2-3 of each item each day and stuff them in my hospital bag. If I "ran out", I called the nurses and they brought me what I needed. There! I confess!

I think it depends on the hospital. My hospital gave me a blanket, diapers and nursettes.

I am going to have to remember this because I am delivering at LIJ this time
For DS, I delivered at Mt. Sinai in NYC and they gave me a bag that had Similac nursettes, a package of diapers, packets of ointment and gauze for DS's circumcision. I think that was it but not sure!
