just curious...anyone have a baby over 40?
i have 4 girls 14,16,18,20 yrs old....and i was happily surprised when i found out i was pregnant with my son,who is now 8 months old....i had all my girls in my 20's..i was 40 when i got pregnant with my ds and 41 when i had him...just curious,any over 40 moms out there? i just feel bad when i go somewhere with my ds and one of my daughters everyone thinks i'm the grandma..i always have to say,he's mine..

More ladies are getting married late 30's and then have bebe's 37 and Up!!!!!!

I think it depends where you live in the US. Very common on LI/NYC to see "older" 1st time moms.

Def. not uncommon anymore. I work in a hospital and last month we had 2 ladies, 48 and 51 in having babies.  I can't even imagine having the energy...
ETA: but to answer your question, I was almost 37 when I had DD and will most likely be around 40 if I have another.

i actually have it easier now then i did with the girls,maybe because it's just him,the girls are pretty much grown up.it was hard with the girls getting up early,it doesnt bother me with him.

Oh boy you just posted my biggest nightmare. I am 43 and am trying for 3 years to have a baby.. I am petrified to hear those words. "are you the grandma" This is a perfect example of people should think b4 they speak... I think if it happens I would be forced to have some work done..  This would be my first baby.. My Dh is even older!! OMG!!

I was 40 when I had DD. I'll be 42 in August and she will be 14 months old.
I was asked only once if I was her grandmother.....it really bothered me.

Yup. I got pregnant at 39 and had DS at 40. I had hoped to have him while still in my late 30s, but it didn't work out. Doesn't matter now, he's here, and I wouldn't change a thing.
Sometimes I wonder if this would be easier if I was younger, but I also have a disorder that causes fatigue sometimes, so that could be the culprit. My pregnancy though was so easy, no big problems at all.

My MIL is 50 and we went foodshopping one day. I was with DS who was in the cart at the deli counter and she took DD who at the time was I guess 8-10 months to the meat counter. A gentleman actual made a comment to her about how cute her daughter was and he was shocked to hear that she was the grandmother. I wouldn't worry to much. My mom had my brother at 39.

I am only 22 and my MIL is 39. We went out to dinner with my kids and IL's and even though I was sitting next to my DD and my MIL was across the table the waiter asked my MIL "does the baby need anything to drink or eat" and my MIL said "I don't know, why don't you ask her mother" So don't worry, people will know you are the mom! I get the opposite end where people think I am the babysitter!

My mom had her last baby when she was 42...If I am blessed with another child I will be very close to 40 when I have him/her.

it is a blessing,i gave up on having a son then...there he was....last yr it was me,my husband and 4 daughters,now,i have a son and 2 son-laws..i am truly blessed.....

I had DS when I was 37. I am 40 now and considering #2 - I would be 41 by the time #2 would be born. And no one has mistaken me for the grandma - yet!

There are lots of women over 40 having babies now!!! I wouldn't worry about the grandma comment! My mom is 50 and everyone thinks that Chelsea is hers!
