Let's say your kid is going to a classmates party. Do you buy a card, too?

Yes. How else would they know who the gift is from?

I either buy the 99 cent cards from Hallmark or my DD makes a card.

I often have my DS make one, because I know he barely looks at them when he has a birthday party. He also sometimes likes to make them and it's more personal to his friend.

They add up. If I get a store-bought card, I go to the Dollar Tree or 1/2 off Card Store.

How else would they know who the gift is from if you don't buy a card to go with it?

I had personalized labels made up that say "A gift for you from...."

So much easier than cards.

Like Christmas labels that you just stick on?

Hmm, I dunno. I know people are swaying away from doing Thank You cards, but can't imagine skipping out on doing Birthday cards with a birthday gift. Seems strange!

I have never been to a party or had a party where I did not give/get a card.

I buy 6 packs of kids cards from the supermarket and use them - they come out to less than a dollar each and they are Hallmark.

I had these made too and people always tell me how cute of an idea it is. I feel like cards are a huge waste...

Really? I feel like birthday cards are such a waste. A thank you card you need to do but the labels are cute and they serve the point. Mine are personalized with a cute little picture on them.

Here's an example:

Cute, but way too generic for my liking. Not even a signature from your friend seems weird to me! JMO though Chat Icon

Right but if you stick that on the gift, it's going to get ripped off with the wrapping paper and thrown away and they won't know who the gift is from I guarantee.
I bet most people wouldn't even see something like that.

Re: kids birthday party-do you buy cards?

I bought a box set of Birthday cards from Staples awhile ago. I think I paid like $15 and got 100 cards. They are just generic birthday cards, so I use them for kids, family, friends, etc.

Re: kids birthday party-do you buy cards?

I've been buying cheap age appropriate books and filling out cover like a card. I hate spending money on things that get thrown out.
I will buy cards if I have to and usually go for .99 cards

It's the gift bags wrapping paper that really kills me . Adds like $5 to cost

In my town almost no one does cards because they either use these labels or buy a toy at the local toy store that provides to/from labels. Everyone pretty much knows to look for the label because there's barely ever a card. I'm actually surprised not every town is like this now! I really thought cards were pretty much a thing of the past.... I have never not received a thank you card for a gift so I am sure they always know who it's from.
