I think the subway tile would look sick on it... I say go for it....another poster said it is easier to clean and ITA...I am sure u will get a ton of scuff marks on it

Thanks for posting the pics Jen!
DH really wants to put the subway tile there so when we buy our backsplash i'll have him hold some of the tiles up in that area to see how it looks.
I'm not a fan of beadboard and we didn't get any extra decorative pieces with our cabinets (although I guess we could order them) so it'll be either painting it or putting the tiles.
We're going to work on it probably this weekend or next so we have to decide soon!

IT LOOKS AWESOME!! I do not like the idea of the tile on the backside, because it makes me think of a shower or pool. I think because it it white that is why I think "shower"I do however love the subway tile. We just ordered glass subway tiles for our kitchen remodel! I like the idea of wainscott or matching panels to finish your island.

Beautiful kitchen! I probably would not do it on that wall, it doesn't work in my head. I would paint it and trim it out in white around the edge under the counter. Or a small edging of the tile under the counter perhaps.
