Ladies that have done IVF- need your input

I am scheduled to do an IVF cycle in June with Dr. Braverman. I don't know yet what my schedule looks like but he told me to call him as soon as AF comes (which should be around May 10) and tha I will have to come in on CD 3. I really don't know what happens after that but....(and here is where I need your help) I am planning a big party at my house for June 13 (a reunion party). Do you think that is a crazy thing to do? I don't know how involved IVF is, should I not be on my feet that much, should I avoid a lot of stress, etc? And regarding the schedule...if I am due for AF on May 3 and start meds soon after that, when do you think the egg retrieval would be? Do you think there is a chance that it would fall on the same weekend as the party? I am so confused. Thanks in advance.

If I were you, I would call or e-mail him now asking what your protocol is going to be.
Most RE's have you take BC pills or some other suppresant for approx. 3/4 weeks, then start you on stims. Depending on how you respond to the stims (most people stim for 8-12 days), your party could end up right around retrieval...which may be a bit too much.

Now, he may have a totally different protocol in mind, which would change everything. But, I would go directly to him to find out what he's planning.

Thank you Gertyrae! I actually did email Dr. B regarding this last week but he said he hasn't gotten to my protocol yet and to give him a few days. I am sure I will be hearing from him soon but I really need to order the invites for the party and wanted to get all of your input before I did it. Thank you for explaining it all to me, it sounds like May and June will be a little crazy around here.

IVF is an emotionally and physically draining process. It basically takes over your life because of the many doctor appointments, medications, injections, etc. It's about about a 6 week process from start to finish. I would recommend getting more information about your protocol and the process in general. You will probably not want to be hosting a big party around retrieval or transfer time. Best of luck!
