Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
SweetCaroline's post got me thinking....Well we all post our stories our "bad mommy" mommy moments so I thought, why now create a post where everyone can share. This way it can make the newer mommies feel better, and the BTDT mommies can laugh as they look back at their "shining" moments.
And in the process we can all remember that we love these little ones so much but in the end no parent is perfect we will all make our "mistakes" and our DC will be stronger for it....hopefully!
So add away....

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
My MIL shared a fun one with me....
With her 3rd, my DH, she was bathing him while my FIL was taking pictures. As she was doing this her 2 other kids were playing around and everyone was getting in the pictures. So it wasn't until the 3rd picture that my MIL realized that she was so busy smiling for the camera, that she was holding the baby's head, in the water. So I guess my DH learned to hold his breath at an early age!
Me... We were at a christening and I was getting ready to feed DS at the table. I was talking to another couple and everyone was commenting on how cute DS was when all you hear is "thump" pretty loudly...everyone turned to see that I had just hit my son's head, rather hard, on the chair rail on the wall. Luckily DS doesn't seem to have a pain sensor yet.... Truth be told, I am not sure if its his large head or what, but I have banged his head in ways that have made me cringe about 3 times and he has never cried! But if he has a bump on his head when he gets older I know its because of me.
THere are more moments but I have to work too....

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
When Andy was about 8 months old (I think) he got a small piece from Sarah's shopping cart and nearly choked on it while I was making breakfast for them.
Earlier this week I was really sick and pretty much stayed on the couch for 3 days with Noggin on non-stop to keep them out of my hair.

Thanks Moms - I'm feeling better already (only I wish I didn't have a confession this early in the game!) I'm sure I'll have more to add with time!

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I have one for the other day. DS got up at 3:30 am, gave him juice and then he fell back to sleep next to me. The next thing I hear his a big thump & DS screaming. He had fallen off the bed.

You mean its not a rite of passage that every child has to go through????
DS hasnt experienced this yet...but my mom did it with 2 out of the 3 of us.
I thought every child had to either be dropped or have a major fall....

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I forgot to strap my boys in a few times.
Last night I was pushing the boys on the swings and almost flipped one out of it since I pushed too hard. He kept saying faster faster, and I kept pushing harder, WOOPS!
I am sure there are 9 million more.

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I had her sitting on the kitchen island in front of me with my arms around her sides, opening a small package right in front of her (not the best set up to begin with) and as I pulled on one of the box flaps, my hand snapped back and hit her smack on the forehead. Oh did I feel bad.

I have bonked my child's head on the side of her bedroom door I can't tell you HOW many times. I don't know if it sticks out further than the other doors in our house or what.

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
Just yesterday
Grace has been going down the slide by herself for a while now. So I was at the top(a little slide for the younger kids) and let her go down. She lost control and banged her head on the side of the slide and then fell off the end onto her side.
Thank GOD she was ok but it was pretty scary to watch. I have to remember she is still 15 months old!

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I forgot to buckle the car seat once too. I was horrified when I got where I was going, but I have learned to accept that these things happen.
At a casual BBQ at my house My friend was taking a sip of her beer with her 1 yr old on her lap, her DS moved, hit his head on the bottle causing the bottle to pull away from her mouth and pour all over his head.

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I have forgotten to buckle her into her carseat....twice!
I left a stuffed animal in her pnp with her and it fell on her face.
She is only 3 months so I have plenty of time to do more damage!

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I feel so much better that I'm not the only one who has forgotten to buckle him in his carseat. He was sitting in it with the bundle me over him at my mom's and we didnt realize he wasnt buckled. Luckily we only drove a couple of blocks
Today, I let my nanny take care of him all day because I was hungover. And when I was feeling better I went to get a pedicure
I bonked his head on the ceiling when I was playing with him on the airplane last weekend.
Jeez, I wish I didnt have so many...

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I have one from this morning!!!
Cailen had a bad poop, got all over the changing pad, so I set him free (he is a very squrimy boy!!) and he ran across the hall to the bathroom. I saw he was just throwing his bath toys in the tub, figured I can take my eyes off him for a minute and change the pad cover...
So, I hear plunk, plunk, plunk of his little toys... plunk, plunk, plunk.... brief silence... THUD!!!!!!
I'm thinking... Thud????
How he managed to get in without falling in his head is still a mystery to me.... He originally was on his hiney, looking at me from the bath with a stunned look on his face, like "I actually did it???"
He stood up and posed when I got the camera phone to send DH a pic.
I swear this kid is gonna drive me to drink!!!

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I've had a few, and she's only 5 months old.
I forgot to buckle her carseat straps as well... but we also only went a short distance.
I bonked her head on the car ceiling getting her into (or out of) her carseat.
She was halfway off the futon in her room this morning, because I left her for just a few seconds. She wiggled her way to the edge, and her legs were hanging off the bed. I am usually so good about making sure she is far from the edges and soft stuff.
I almost dropped a couple times. I was holding her with one hand, and (bad mommy) was taking a glass of wine from a friend with the other. She got wobbly and fell backwards, luckily she was on our big ottoman.

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
While giving Ryan Tylenol in his bathroom, I looked away for half a second and he took off into the hallway and fell down an entire flight of stairs. Thank God they are carpeted. He didn't get so much as a scratch on him, but now I ALWAYS double check the gate at the top of the stairs.

I just remembered another one. She had an ear infection accompanied by a fever. She was just shy of 6 months and weighed a little over 14lbs. I read the Tylenol package wrong and gave her almost double the dosage for her weight/age. I did this for 3 days. Geez Louise.
