Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I have a bunch.
I was staying at a friends house when she was approx. 5 months old. I left DD in the middle of a double bed against the pillows, turned my back for a minute (she wasn't much of a roller so I didn't think she'd go anywhere) and somehow she fell off the bed. It was awful. She was fine though.
I forgot to strap her into her infant seat in the car, realized when we got home. I was mortified that I drove like that without realizing.
When DH is away and I need a break sometimes I let her watch much more TV than I should so I could have some peace to eat my lunch.
I forgot to change her diaper after she woke up and she sat in a wet, stinky diaper for 2 more hours. And never complained.
I am sure I have more. That's all I can think of right now. I think I need Shawn's award permanently on my wall.

While giving Ryan Tylenol in his bathroom, I looked away for half a second and he took off into the hallway and fell down an entire flight of stairs. Thank God they are carpeted. He didn't get so much as a scratch on him, but now I ALWAYS double check the gate at the top of the stairs.
My DD did that at my SIL house when I was the bathroom. I asked my SIL to watch her for a sec but I don't think she realized that she was walking by then.
I was peeing and heard a boom, boom, boom, crash, thud and hystercial crying. They were hard wood too, no carpeting. Amazing she didn't have a scratch on her but we did wake her all night to make sure she didn't have a concussion.

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
This post is perfect for today since I had my first bad mommy moment this morning. Rylan is colicky and screams all night long so I basically spend every night in the living room and kitchen walking around trying to calm him. He fell asleep in my arms on the couch at 5:00am and I must have dozed off also and woke up because I felt him rolling off my arm. He hit the coffee table and then fell on the floor. I jumped up screaming grabbed him and ran into the bedroom where my boyfriend was sleeping. He heard us and jumped up at the same time was tripping over the blanket he dragged out of bed with him and we almost ran into each other. I have never been so scared in my life...I thought I was going to get sick. Luckily he was ok...he hit his calf on the table and has a bruise but thank god it wasn't his head. He cried for about 1 minute and was sound asleep again. Of course I feel like the worst mom in the world because I should know better than to sleep with him on the couch but I get desperate.

I feel asleep many a time with dd on my lap, holding her, when I was exhausted from those middle of the night feedings kids are very resilient

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I got one of my first bad mommy awards the other day. DD has had this circle on her back for a month now. It looks like a blister. Some days its bright some days really faded. Well, her therapist was here the other day and we took her shirt off so she could look at her shoulders and this big red circle is there, looking horrible. I swear it looked like somene took a cigarette and held it to her back. I immediately took her over to the ped (she had said it was just a patch of dry skin previously). Well, turns out she is allergic to the glue tag on the Gerber onesies. I had just started putting her in the sleeveless one about a month ago, with certain outfits. Thats why it kept coming and going. My poor girl. Those went right in the trash and it is almost gone already.

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
I was driving 70+mph on the LIE in the HOV lane when I saw in my rearview mirror that my 4 month old was in his car seat, and the straps weren't on him!
When My DD was 3 months old, she was in her infant car seat, and we took her for a walk. We put the infant car seat onto the Sit and Stand and didn't strap it on. My older son decided to walk, so the sit and stand was top heavy. My DH was going down a hill and the car seat flew off the sit and stand and rolled over and down the hill too - with DD in it! So freaking scary.
And just today, I missed a big spot on my DD's face, and fogot sunscreen on her ears, so needless to say, he's got sunburn from our outing today

Re: Lets share--Your Bad Mommy Confessions
The WORST was the time I LITERALLY bit my infant on the face.
He was new and I was shot from taking care of a 2 year old and a brand new baby. He was about a week old and I was on almost 24 hours without sleep because I wanted to prove I could do everything myself without help.
I had him on my chest and I just PASSED OUT from sheer exhaustion. As if the whole falling asleep while holding him wasn't bad enough, I woke up startled (I think I had a dream where something was attacking me) and I nipped his nose! I didn't bite him too hard or draw blood or even make him cry - but I CRIED for almost an hour straight because of what MIGHT have been! After that I started accepting help from my mom and pumping more so I could sleep while Rob and Mom helped with the feeding!
And a few months ago I was sick as a dog (high fever, aches, pains, chills - the works) and Rob was at school. I let my sons watch TV for about 3 hours straight while I laid on the couch. When Robbie asked for a snack I told him he could use the chair to get himself and Noah some cookies from the cookie jar and a couple of juice boxes from the fridge. That was all they ate until Rob came home and fed them leftovers.
