Chewing gum like a cow.

Chewing gum with your mouth open.

Snapping your gum.

AND...

People who cut their fingernails ANYWHERE its not appropriate: On the train, on the plane, on the couch, in the office.

Re: Let's talk pet peeves

This new trend where women start every conversation/statement with "So". It is driving me crazy and I'm noticing it constantly all the sudden. Knock it off! Something about it just sounds so pretentious and rubs the me the wrong way.

People who feel the need to touch you while talking to you. I'm not a touchy feely person at all and I actually flinched recently when someone came up and touched me as they said hello. She then proceeded to touch me further to 'calm me down' because she thought she startled me. I know it's not meant maliciously but I really hate people touching me (aside from my immediate family).

People who drive in the left lane and don't yield to faster traffic.

People who don't even slow down to pass people turning on 25a. My DH runs there and someone is going to kill him one day doing this. There are signs everywhere that say DO NOT PASS but it seems that no one opts to observe this law. Chat Icon

Re: Let's talk pet peeves

Most of my pet peeves have already been covered in this post. However, one I haven't seen mentioned is when people put the $ after the number. For example, when writing twenty dollars, they write 20$ instead of $20. Drives me nutty!!!!

People who block the doors on the subway.

People who lean their whole body against the pole on the subway.

People who get to the turnstiles and just...STOP. Like its a big f'n surprise that they need to get their Metrocard out.

People who walk against the flow on the sidewalk. MOVE TO THE RIGHT.

People who stop on the subway steps to check their phone.

People who go into Starbucks/Dunkin and act like they've never ever ordered coffee before.

Improper use of they're/their/there.

Use of "suppose to" and "use to" instead of "supposed to" and "used to". Let's add "ice tea" instead of the proper "iced tea" here as well.

People who pull their phones out during a Broadway show.
People who act like total d!cks and don't own up to it when you call them out on their shit.

People who complain about the weather every f'n day on Facebook. We all do from time to time but EVERY DAY?

People over the age of 9 who wear rompers.

Sums it up:
Elaine: "Ugh, I hate people." Jerry: "Yeah, they're the worst."

Also: I should of/would of/could of
And, in the famous words of Ross "Y O U apostrophe R E is You Are. Y O U R is Your!!!!

Agghhh

Just saw this one on facebook and it reminded me

Shortened words like:

Adorbs

Gorg

Cray

OMG I especially hate ADORBS for some reason.
Gives me chills.

Yes! All of these. And also when people refer to their husband as "the hubs" or "the hubster". And pregnant as "preggers"

I also can't stand made up words like chillaxin and amazeballs.

Yes! What the H is Amazeballs?!?

Oh, and one of the biggest pet peeves: acrost instead of across. I swear I heard someone on CNN using it once about a weather event. I can't remember when, but I was screaming at the tv. Chat Icon

Phone calls from Surveys.

I just got another one from Siena College Research two minutes ago. They have called us every single night for the past week. Tonight was the second time I have asked them to please take our names off the list. The poor woman who called was very nice when I told her about this. Apparently it's a political survey.

If they call again, I will take the dang survey and seriously mess with the answers I give them.

My biggest pet peeve is people who complain and let little things bother them.

When the products at the supermarket don't match up to the price tags on the shelf!
I want to grab and go. I don't want to stop and compare every item.

Makes me nuts.

A pet peeve of mine is when someone is ordering something, either at a fine restaurant or the deli/bagel counter and says "Lemme get..." It's my opinion, but I think it's rude.

YES! This drives me up a freaking wall.
How about you start with "May I PLEASE have a..."

The other one for me is - and I feel like this is the wrong forum for it Chat Icon - really thick Long Island accents. I'm not talking about the occasional 'caw-fee'...we all have remnants of that. But the super thick LI accent makes me
cringe.

Adding:
I despise 'IMO' and 'IMHO'. Comes across as so pretentious to me. No need to clarify that it was your opinion. Isn't that a given when you're posting on a forum?! Chat Icon

Yes! I also think it's a tactic so the place will make more money.

My current peeve is colleagues who constantly ask me to find out stuff for them when they can just ask the person themselves.

And it's always the same answer they don't want to hear....like if I ask the person it's going to change policy.

Had it happen again yesterday. My boss told me to tell them I am not allowed to get in the middle anymore and now they must go to her.

People who mispronounce words:

asked as "axed". I immediate get a mental picture of an ax.

caramel as "Car-mel" instead of "Car-a-mel" - It's three syllable word with an "A" in the middle

Bottle as bot -lel

Chocolate as "chawck-lit"

Mall as Mauwl

Coffee as "cauw-fee" - darling DH does this

Or mangle grammar:
"Me and my mom are going shopping" when it should be "My Mom and I are ...., or "I am going with my Mom...". In English, we don't call ourselves "Me" when we are talking about doing something.

Let's talk pet peeves

When people scrape their silverware on china...I want to throat punch people at restaurants when they do this.

When people are rude to employees for no good reason someplace

When you have to press 1 million buttons to try and get to customer service or when the prompts are sound activated and your husband keeps talking in the background and messing it up.

Shoveling food, chewing with mouth open, slurping soup, snapping gum.

Drivers who pull out two inches in front of you when there's not another car coming for a mile.

Not saying Thank you when a door is held open for you

Bragging about how much money you make/your husband makes and then crying poverty the next minute when asked to go out and do something.

Control freaks

Bending over backwards for friends to not have it reciprocated when its your turn

I am a stickler for grammar too. The worst is grammar mistakes in a book. Don't they have editors?
My recent ones:

All of THE sudden.
No, it's all of A sudden.
(and yes ,I saw this in a book recently)

I landed up doing this instead.
No, it's I ENDED up doing this instead.

There are others I can't think of now too.

When people spell drawer as Draw. Drives me crazy. Just because you pronounce it draw with your Long Island accent doesn't mean that is how it is spelled! Lol
