LI Teachers Insurance
Hi guys, in the city I currently don't pay for insurance and my DH and DD are under my GHI plan. On LI, I heard that teachers have to pay for their insurance. Ballpark how much does it cost? I have no idea what to expect by making the switch to LI. Thank you in advance

You can find their contract online through seethrough.net and it'll give you an idea about % towards premium. When I taught on LI before, I was losing 250 every pay period for my family plan :/

same boat as you (as you know).. my school gave me all the info recently, and it's about $150 a paycheck for a family- they have The Empire Plan through NYSHIP

Nyship is worth every penny. The most expensive treatments are covered and so are most medications.
My medical bills would be about $70,000/ $80000/year. Oop costs? $400.00
Worth it, IMO. DH pays out of his salary/district ~$220/check for our family coverage.
