LIRR ticket prices and commute benefits!
so... first i hear that the LIRR is raising their ticket prices.. ok it sux but w/e right?
this morning i get this email:
Dear Participant,
The Federal Stimulus package known as ARRA had temporarily increased the monthly pre-tax payroll deduction cap for your transit benefit to $230.00/month. This provision in ARRA is expiring as of January 2011, unless Congress announces otherwise. As such, the pre-tax withholding limit will be reduced to $120.00/month from $230.00/month. Please be advised that we have implemented this roll-back today for your January 2011 benefit month transit order.
Effective today, any transit order amount over the $120 limit will be designated as post-tax funds and is not eligible for a pre-tax payroll deduction. The post-tax portion of your transit order will be deducted from your payroll on a post-tax basis.
You will want to make sure that any and all changes to your profile are completed before your ordering window for January 2011 closes. Any changes made after this date will not be effective for January 2011 benefit month.

Re: LIRR ticket prices and commute benefits!
Ugh - I liked that it was a lot higher! Thanks for posting though, I had decreased my December withdrawal amount because I had excess funds (and thought I had fraud on my account) but, I'm going to raise it back up to normal and start decreasing in 2011.

Re: LIRR ticket prices and commute benefits!
I didn't realize when it was increased that it was temporary. It covered by whole railroad ticket, but not my metro card.
There was no mention of it at work, because most people here just use the metro card & are all up in arms about the unlimited increasing. An email was sent out about that & just had in fine print at the bottom about the cap decreasing.
