London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
What is your favorite marinade. Also, what is the longest that I can marinate it for? I just bought it today, but will be eating it on Thurs night. When should I being to marinate it? And I can keep it in the fridge until I marinate, right?

London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
Robusto Italian Dressing. I usually marinade it for 1-2 days.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
I use a mix of Italian dressing, the refrigerated white horseradish, and rosemary. I then mix it all together and pour it over the London broil in a large ziploc bag. I leave it in the fridge overnight and when I cook it the steak comes out like butter. The acids from the dressing and horseradish seem to break down the steak fibers making it very soft.

London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
you can definitely leave it 1-2 days. the marinade i use depend on what i am doing with it. i made one the other day where the marinade when red wine vinegar, olive oil, garlic, dijon, honey, orange peel, dried herbs, and a lot of bourbon. if i want it mexican/southwestern, i will use a lot of lime, agave, smoked paprika, cayenne. sometimes i will just do balsamic, olive oil, garlic.
if you are grilling it, i think the key is to use something with a sugar content so that it really gets that nice char on the grill (and the sugar balances the taste of the acid a bit)
you can also freeze it in the marinade when you get it, so it starts to marinate while it is freezing, and then it will continue to marinate when it is defrosting in the fridge.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
I use this for hangar steak, so it can probably be used for London Broil. I do overnight usually.

I think I double the marinade because I love it so much!

Kens Steak and Chop is the best marinade! We use it for steps and pork tenderloin. I always get compliments.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
Someone posted this a while back, and it is one of DH's favorites on london broil and hanger steak.
Equal parts (I do 1/4 cup each) : Soy sauce Tomato juice Olive or Vegetable oil Brown Sugar then add sliced garlic. I usually add a couple shots of Worcestershire sauce too.
Marinate up to 24 hours, then boil the marinade to make a dipping sauce.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
I do it two ways...
One is with soy sauce, pepper and minced garlic. I usually make it the same day as I marinate it but I let it sit for about an hour. I am sure you can do it longer.
I also do a mustard rub with french's mustard and pepper. The same timing as above.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
1/2 cup of each of the following - vegetable oil soy sayce brown sugar tomato juice
tons of minced garlic
It's delish. When you cook the meat, save the leftover marinade and microwave it for about a minute and a half. Makes an awesome dipping sauce for the meat.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
Can be done 1-day in advance:
Teriyaki Sauce or TJ's Island Soyaki Italian Salad Dressing (I like wishbone and kraft best) Coca-cola (not diet- you need the sugar to tenderize the meat) 1 tsp crushed garlic a few dashes of worchester sauce
Sometimes I'll add a few shakes of montreal steak seasoning too.
Comes out amazing every time.

Re: London Broil Marinade Suggestions (and a question)
I always use this recipe for London broil: (I usually just marinate overnight or even just one day)
1/2 cup olive oil 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup honey 6 cloves garlic, minced 3 TB chopped fresh rosemary leaves 1.5 TB coarsely ground black pepper 1 tsp salt
Score the meat on both sides (with shallow, diagonal cuts) before putting into the marinade. Then I grill or broil the meat a 5-8 minutes per side (depending on the thickness of the meat and your desired level of "doneness").
Gets rave reviews!
