Long Island Restaurants Permanently Closed
So many of my favorite restaurants have closed for good due to Covid and I'm sure this is just the beginning. This is so upsetting. Please add any restaurants that you know have closed!
-C'est Cheese in Port Jefferson. My favorite cheese shop on Long Island.
-American Cheese in Sayville. They also had great cheeses.
-Bobby's Burger Palace in Lake Grove. My favorite burger/fast food place!
-Bravo Nader in Huntington
-Perennial in Garden City. This was on my list to try.
-Ginza in Massapequa
-Sip This in Valley Stream
-Wild Side Organic Bistro & Bar in Oakdale
-Croxley's in Smithtown. Although, I think they closed the month before the lock down started.
-Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza in Stony Brook, Farmingdale and Great Neck
-Zinburger in Huntington Station
-Minado in Carle Place
-The Gristmill in East Rockaway
-Hotoke in Smithtown
-Cafe Formaggio in Carle Place
-Bayou Jones in Merrick
-Villaggio's in Smiththown
-Canterbury's in Oyster Bay
-F.I.S.H. on Main in Port Washington
-Bonwit Inn in Commack
-Coco Palace in Great Neck
-Kingfish in Westbury
-Left Coast Kitchen in Merrick
-Parlay Gastropub in Rockville Centre
-Olde Trading Post in New Hyde Park
-Tao's Fusion in Selden
-Osteria Leana in Oyster Bay
-NOLE Cafe in Patchogue
-Smashburger in East Northport

Re: Long Island Restaurants Permanently Closed
I loved American Cheese! So sad. They did say they will be providing food for the Oakdale Yacht Club, but I really loved going there for a cheese plate and a glass of wine or a to go cheese box for a picnic.
I don't know of any others that closed. All of my favorites have survived so far, thankfully

I went on Mother's Day and you could tell they were closing then. But they have the best soft goat cheese with figs and I think apricots. It was delicious.

I am so sad about Bravo nader. It was a cute little place. He was on instagram and he was so sad.
He figured if he can only 25% it is not worth it so he is closing his doors.

Re: Long Island Restaurants Permanently Closed
I'm so sad to hear that C'est Cheese closed I loved that place!
ETA: Although I liked the food, I had such a bad experience at Wild Side in Oakdale once. The owner was so rude to us on Mother's Day, so we never went back. We were regulars before that. I have no clue why they were so rude to us that day, but I'm not sad to see them go. Actually I'm surprised it took this long, they were never packed. If they had more than 3 tables they were overwhelmed lol.

Re: Long Island Restaurants Permanently Closed
Minado in Carle Place closed in early March- planned closing moved up bc of Covid. They were supposed to re-open as Spring Shabu-Shabu but only the Flushing and Boston locations are currently on their website.

I LOVED Cest Cheese in port jeff, so friendly, welcoming and just an awesome place. I used to take my kids all the time for lunch even as babies on my own they always did all they could to make it easy on me there. I would have done anything to save them. it was so abrupt the closure. I think they tried one weekend of outdoor dining

Same thing happened to American Cheese in Sayville. They were doing take out of real food like burgers, fondue kits, crab cakes etc and you could go in and buy their cheese by the pound like always- but I guess they just couldn't make it work. they were a tiny business and I assume the rent in Sayille was super high. They never even made it to the point of where outdoor dining was allowed - they closed before that- and they had a nice backyard area that would have been perfect for it too. They even showed outdoor movies in the summer in year's past so it would have been great. Such a shame- I loved that place.

Hildebrandt’s wasn’t due to COVID. The building was sold...but it’s saved for now. They reached a temporary agreement.

While I am sad the Old Trading Post in NHP closed, it was bought by the people who owned Park Place in Floral Park that burned down this summer along with a whole strip of businesses. So while it's sad to lose any, at least Park Place will get the chance to rebuild.

So sad these places closed. I don't know how buffets can survive these days. Those places could be pretty gross even before covid. Maybe if they had tall sneeze guards and servers plating the food cafeteria style instead of self-serve?

I never liked buffets because germ stuff aside, I can't stand piling a bunch of food on my plate that doesn't' go together and it all mushing together and standing on line like a heard of cattle for my food. But I have heard that some buffet places have opened- like Chinese buffets etc- and some just have someone serving you the food rather than everyone grabbing utensils and touching it. And you have to wear your mask obviously while getting your food. So I guess they found a way to work around Covid, but it's still not for me!
