Low Beta but rising Last Update 11/3/2015
I had my first beta on Friday at 12 days past 5 day transfer. The doctor called and said the beta was only a 10. He said it may have implanted at some point and it may not be a viable pregnancy but there is a 10% chance of it working. He said to stay on meds and come back Monday for a second beta.
I went in today and he just called and said the number is now 54. He even sounded shocked and said that things are better but that it is still low and we will repeat again Wednesday and if that goes up I will go in next week for a sono to see what is going on.
Any success stories with this? I know has long as it doubles that is good but it just seems so low to me.
UPDATE: beta 3 is 173! The number more then tripled since the 2nd beta!! Sono on Monday so we will see.

could have been a late implanter.
i guess as long as its going up thats positive.
mine started low and went down, so unfortunately it didnt work out. I think 10 to 54 is pretty good in short time.

my beta was really very low to begin with and a very slow doubler. She's 2.5 now. Baby dust to you!

My betas were never high. Only had about a 70 percent rise after 48 hrs
My twins will be 3 on thanksgiving

Low Beta but rising
My first beta was a 24 or so, I don't recall exactly the number but it was low. Mine doubled, then tripled. I now have an almost 3 month old. Anything can happen, I also believe I had a late implanter. Good luck, I hope it keeps rising!

Went in for third beta today. I should here between 12-1 pm. I had some spotting this morning but I know that can happen with a healthy pregnancy and because the progesterone too. I hate this waiting game.

I called my doctor today because I have had some spotting mostly brown some red. I wanted to get some reassurance and see what they think. The nurse calls me back and says well you can do another beta tomorrow. I said can we do a sono to just check and see if anything is going on. Well apparently no one is in to do a sono on Saturdays so no and she says since your beta has been SO low we won't see anything anyway. After she was rude and condescending I got rude back and told her how much we have paid for this so far and I cannot believe no one is available to do a sono at such a large practice. Well weekends they have light staff. I was annoyed I told her have a good day and hung up.
The doctor calls me and pretty much is hopeless. He says right away well this could be what I thought and not a good pregnancy and this is a start of it going bad. Instead of giving possible reasons for this he starts with the worst. I told him I would appreciate if anyone at this practice showed me a little hope. He says well it is one thing being hopeful but we should be realistic. I said really I would think my doctor could show some hope. He says well your beta's did great considering where it started but I have to be realistic here and since we work has a team with you I am giving you what I think.
I know he is a doctor and has to give worst case but he didn't even give me any hope. Not well this could be old blood, this could be this or that NOTHING. It was almost has if he was happy that he may be right with what he thought all along. He goes on to tell me you have other embryos you will be pregnant maybe just not now.
You all know going through this is awful. It is hard, sad, emotional and many other things. I would think my doctor would show a little hope something. I feel so sad now.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
It really could go either way at this point, and I think the dr just doesn't want to give you false hope. In his mind, it's probably better for you to be pleasantly surprised if it works out, than to have been given false hope if it goes the other way.
I know it's hard, but when I went through all this I appreciated hearing the truth, not sugar coated. As for not having anyone on staff for a sono? That sounds weird. Don't women have to come in for monitoring on the weekends? Perhaps this just isn't the right fit for you with this practice? Just give it a few more days and see what happens before you make any decisions.
