Low impact baby weight workout

Hello All.

I gained 50 lbs with baby, and even though she was a big baby at 10 lbs, the math doesnt really add up, if you know what I mean. :(

Im in search of a low impact (not some crazy boot camp) to loose this weight!!! I hate the gym bc I get bored walking on a treadmill for an hour, so I want something fun!!

I want to get in shape for next summer, as I gave up on this one already.

Can you recommend something for me??

I live in East Meadow btw.

Thanks!!

Is the gym out of the question? You can do Zumba classes, yoga, Pilates.

Im a member at Planet Fitness and they dont have any classes. Maybe its time to change gyms and pay some more to take some classes. Ugh, why cant fat be a sign of wealth like it was in the good ol days? :(

Re: Low impact baby weight workout

It's not low-impact, but I did zumba after my son was born. I am not a gym person AT ALL. I did do WW and also had an elliptical at home, but I find the elliptical (while low-impact) to be pretty boring!

Zumba is fun - almost like dancing - lots of good music and kept me engaged. I just signed up for a class through the Town of Hempstead rec program, and it was only $66 for 12 weekly classes. The registration for that came and went but I know in ToH at least there are other physical fitness programs with later registration dates. Might be worth looking into at your town! (And I know a lot of local libraries have zumba classes, yoga, pilates, etc.).

Also, while I was on maternity leave, I did stroller strides, which was fun. The one I did met a lot in Cedar Creek park in good weather and in the Broadway mall for bad weather days. It was fairly low impact (lots of walking, stretches, squats), and many of the more high impact things could be modified. Plus, you can meet and socialize with other new moms.

I know a lot of people like doing fitness DVDs at home, too, but if you can swing it, I know getting out is appealing to a lot of new moms!

If you don't like the treadmill, I would drop your gym membership. Then I would either join a gym that offers classes, or just find a place where you can pay per class. Zumba is a ton of fun. And for me, classes of any type keep me way more engaged and into working out then any piece of equipment.

I agree with the membership...I belong to PF, but I don't need classes (nor will my random schedule allow me to take them). But if that keeps you enganged, you need to find a place/workout you'll enjoy, will push you, & you'll stick with.

Don't be discouraged with the weight...with BOTH my DDs I gained 50lbs. And DD1 was only 6lb+ & DD2 was 8lb+.

I managed to lose it all in less than 6mo & now (almost 3yrs later, I'm in the best shape of my life).

get active & keep your eating in check.

Re: Low impact baby weight workout

I've been going to Bikram (Hot) yoga since about a year after DS was born.

It's the only thing I find I really stick with.

Just so you know, a lot of places will let you do a trial for around $20 before you make the commitment.

I tend to go to the 8PM during the week and then on the weekends so it fits into my schedule better.
