mash potatoes which do you like better
the kind that come's in the box like hungry jack or homemade mash potatoes? and can you tell the diffence between the two? I made some from the box and its really good.

I prefer homemade! It's all the ingredients you put in them when making them from scratch that I love.

boxed mashed potatoes? 
it's one of the easiest things to make. I hate peeling them, so I buy the all purpose kind and make "dirty" mashed potatoes.

As a kid I used to eat the boxed mash potatoes, now that I make it from scratch I could never go back to the boxed kind!

after I posted that, I inspired another thread...I am a nutter when it comes to food.
me too..I guess there's a market for it since it's on the shelves, but I would not eat it.
I'm a bit of a foodie myself.

Boxed mashed potatoes are really not that bad. My mom who would NEVER eat them said she recently tried them and liked them. She is a "from scratch" type of person too.

I am not a fan of instant mash, although the only person who has managed to make them taste great is my mother . . . .
I LOVE homemade mashed RED potatoes . . .YUMMY
There is just no comparison between the two IMHO

homemade, although the box ones are pretty good. I can only tell the difference because the boxed kinds are very heavy, homeamde is fluffier.

i don't think you could EVER compare boxed mashed potatoes to homemade
because if you liked the boxed one MORE....something is seriously wrong with the scenario

I have never had mashed potatoes from a box. My mother was COMPLETELY against them, and I can tell just by looking at them if they are fresh or not.
I only make my own mashed, with roasted garlic, and new potatoes.
