meal Prep before Baby??
I know with a week left until my due date I am kind of late on this, but I figured if i could get one or two done now it wopuld be better than nothing here but did anyone do meal prep and freezer meals before the baby so it was easier the first few weeks? Just heat and eat type of thing? if so, do you have any recipes/sites you can recommend for getting specific meals like this that i can at least prep ahead of time and freeze? even if i just have to put the frozen things into a crock pot that would save a ton of time preparing... or even making an entire meal and freezing so i can just heat and eat...
or did you guys just rely on delivery and restaurant pickup and things like that (which I have a feeling at this point I will be doing hahaha )

Re: meal Prep before Baby??
I didn't. We just got take out or DH BBQ ed or my parents would come by and my dad would cook dinner occasionally.
I was so sleep deprived and out of sorts from having a colic newborn and honestly just shell shocked that I rarely even thought about eating. Much less a sit down type dinner.
It was either take out, burgers and dogs on the grill or a sandwich. I didn't have much appetite.

I made a ton both times and it was very helpful. Chili, meatloaf, lasagna, taco meat, enchiladas to name a few. I also assemble English muffin pizzas and freeze them to put in the toaster over for a quick lunch.

This, minus the BBQ-ing because dd was a winter baby. I don't think I ate for a month.

With my first I wasn't working and the day before I went into labor I had made a lasagna and baked ziti (and maybe something else) and froze them. For my second, I didn't.
The truth is I didn't think it saved me all that much time.

meal Prep before Baby??
With my first we didn't prep anything. We ate A LOT of takeout the first few weeks. This time, since I will have my daughter to think about, I will try to prep a bunch of things we can just heat up that she can eat.

meal Prep before Baby??
I prepped A LOT of food ahead of time including chili, meatballs, sausage, protein balls, grilled chicken, breaded chicken, baked ziti, meatloaf, taco meat, etc. It was really a life saver that first month. My DH scoffed when he first saw how much food I prepped and then once our DS was here, he was like THANK GOD!!!

we didn't prep. We are really liad back about cooking and simple anyway. DH would eat PB & J everyday if he had to.
And IMO you have to learn to balance it all at some point and I'm better off when I just dive in a deal with it than put things off.

we did. I made crockpot meatballs and sauce and froze them, and made a tray of lasagna. We found out later that we really didn't need to prepare food though. One friend ordered 3 trays of food for us, my mom made us alot, and basically anyone that came by after we had the baby came with food or gift cards for food lol.
The best thing we did, though, was we hired a cleaning lady to come to the house while I was in the hospital. My dad let her in and stayed at the house while she cleaned. It was nice coming home to a clean house

Re: meal Prep before Baby??
We are just going through this now. I did not prep, there was just not enough time and no amount of food would have been enough. My LO was just born last month and we just do takeout, or quick items like hot dogs, can of soup, frozen dinners, easy to boil things like ravioli, etc. There is just not enough time to make a real meal. If you can prep, great, if not, easy things and don't count on real meals for a while.

Same here. I'm not prepping. I remember the first month being a blur & I'd forget to eat anyway & then just have a bowl of cereal. Maybe I'll have a few things ready for my older kids this time but mostly no major prepping.

For my second, I did. I think it's a good idea. I made a crustless zucchini quiche and froze it in slices, tomato sauce, meatballs, hamburgers. I really enjoyed the quiche. I just reheated in the toaster oven. It lasted a while and tasted good. The rest was takeout and our moms and DH's sister made dishes and brought them over for us.

Re: meal Prep before Baby??
I didn't prep anything - which worked out since my kids had a million food intolerances and it probably would have made me more crazy lol.
I can see how those ready to dump crock pot meals might be helpful, but I cant imagine cooking a frozen lasagna or something where I'd have to be aware of the oven being on

I was not able to prep since I was on bed rest, one of my friends who was actually prepping for herself made some extra things for me and then we had gift cards, take out easy stuff.
I enjoy cooking so I was happy to be back making things once allowed (very simple things at first).
We had a cleaning lady while I was pregnant and for the first few months, to me that was wayyyy more important then the meals. The other lifesaver was Peapod, the time I would take to go shopping I used prepping stuff.

meal Prep before Baby??
thanks everyone. I feel like at this point I really have no time left to prep,so i have a feeling we will just wing it. I am sure my mom will make stuff to bring over too in the beginning. like people said too.. iam sure we will just make easy and quick things in hte beginning.
thanks for all the tips! I will see if DH wants to spring for a cleaning lady too - that would be invaluable.

How much longer do you have? I did all the prep in 1-2 days about a week before DS was born. We have no family close by so it really helped.
