Melissa & Doug Customer Service rave
Recently we got a M&D mailbox as a gift. The second time the kids were playing with it the door with the lock fell off, a big piece of wood had cracked off by the peg that holds it in. It was very sharp, but luckily I was right there and took it away before anyone got hurt on it.
I emailed them to see if I could get a new door, and they just called and said they are going to mail us a new mailbox. They kept apologizing and asked multiple times to make sure that nobody was hurt. They told me that I don't have to return the broken one to them, they just asked that I email a few pics of the broken pieces so that they can have their production people look at it and make sure it's not a bigger problem.
I just wanted to share b/c I really felt like they went out of their way to make it right and to make sure that nobody was hurt.

You're kidding me !!!! The same EXACT thing happened to my DS's - I'm looking at it right now in the kitchen !...Maybe I'll give them an e-mail also....Did you just look on their site to get the e-mail address ? I kept the pieces for the longest time with the "intention" to get wood glue, never did and now they are gone !

Yup, I just looked on their website. When they called they asked me for a code on the bottom of the mailbox that starts with 2 letters and then has 4 digits, so that they could figure out when it was made. I guess so they can see if they need to recall it or whatever.
Good luck! They were so friendly, it was a pleasure. I was dreading them calling thinking they'd assume my kids were playing rough with it, KWIM?

Awesome ! Thank you so much for posting this, I never would have thought to call and my DS loves it so much- but the door is always popping open on it and he gets frusturated when the mail falls out  ...we actually lost some of the stamps too  ...I will definately e-mail them !
