Just curious Does Organic milk NOT have hormones in it?
I just asked this recently and the answer was that organic IS hormone-free.

How about non dairy milk like almond or rice milk? We drink almond milk (but not so good for coffee! lol)
I dont like the ingredients in store bought almond milk, and rice is high arsenic, I wouldnt drink rice milk every day....but those are just my reasons. There are plenty of people drinking these on daily basis and living healthy, just personally dont like it.
What ingredients don't you like in almond milk?

Lol, I love almond milk in coffee! You could also try organic, non gmo verified soy milk. I buy it in a 3 pack at Bjs and really like it !

What ingredients don't you like in almond milk?
disclaimer: I am very very very paranoid about my food. I grew up in a house where everything was made from scratch and anything that wasn't was considered poision. We have family friend that worked as a chemist for Nabisco, he taught me to read labels and be very careful. Its probably harmless to have a little bit of this stuff, but in large amounts, like giving it to a toddler every day makes me nervous.
for instance, these are the ingredients in silk brand original almond milk
All Natural Almondmilk (filtered water, almonds), All Natural Evaporated Cane Juice, Calcium Carbonate, Sea Salt, Locust Bean Gum, Sunflower Lecithin, Gellan Gum, d-alpha-Tocopherol (natural vitamin E), Zinc Gluconate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B12, Vitamin D2.
1. all natural evaporated cane juce = sugar ... okay by me, but does my toddler really need extra sugar in their diet
2. calcium carbonate = chemical calcium .. added as a vitamin
3. sea salt .. okay by me, but does my toddler really need salt
4. locust bean gum = carob bean gum ... according to FDA in high levels considered toxic (source )
5. Gellan Gum - nothing terrible concluded on it, but still an artificial ingredient to me I rather avoid
6. vitamins - I blieve there are real merrits to vitamins, I just like to take/give them in pill and controled dose form if diet isn't up to par. Many vitamins are produced from chemicals and unknown side effetcts might present themselves, especially when they are taken in large quantities, can tax the liver.

Re: Milk? Organic or Non?
We all drink organic 1% milk. When my kids were one year-old I bought them organic whole milk and transitioned them to 1% when they turned two.

Most regular milks are hormone free now that I've seen. It typically says so on the label. Tuscan for one says "no artificial growth hormones" right on the package. I called and checked with stop and shop corporate and they told me theirs were hormone free too.

more info than what you asked, but its harmless to share, I hope...
organic is not enough for me, there are too many loopholes in organic regulations. I'm very distrustful of organic labels and do the research on the foods we eat the most.
I try to find grass fed cow milk, from one farm sources that are pasteurized (as apposed to ultra pasteurized)
Cornucopia's Diary Ratings
you posted this once before and this list is why I stopped by the trader joe's brand milk and will not only buy the whole foods 365 brand.

It was a joke. I did my research, asked my peds, and read labels. Which is the real reason I choose to go grassfed organic. We all do what is best for our child(ren) !!
I may do 90% organic at home, but my kids ate pizza out 3 times this week eh, give and take

The problem is that those brands have antibiotics and pesticides. ( unless they state something to the contrary)

Re: Milk? Organic or Non?
My DS & both my DH & I only drink organic milk. But now that I tried looking into it more, I can't seem to find the brands we buy on that list that was posted. We usually get Stonyfield, or Shop Rite Organic, or Green Way organic. Does anyone know where to get more info, since both codes I tried gave 0 results? I Aldo can't find a rating on the Shop Rite brand. ?? Thanks!!!

I'm in Brooklyn, but I'm pretty sure Whole Foods and Fairways carries grass fed organic milk. Thats what I look for.
I like Natural by Nature brand, and a local brand that makes grass fed milk called EcoMeal.

wow this is interesting. And I just bought a gallon of TJs organic. A lot of times I buy Amish Country since it's the cheapest organic at my local grocery store at $4.50 for a half gallon.
