Milk Protiein Allergy and Eggs...

Some people say that it is more likely to have an egg allergy with a milk allergy. Is this true? DS is almost 10 months..and my ped has told me for over two months now that I can try the yolk..but I am so neurotic...when I told him I was nervous he laughed at me and said cows don't lay eggs..Chat Icon

Edited to say..how did you introduce the yoke? hard boiled/fried..etc...

Thanks.

Milk Protiein Allergy and Eggs...

I've never heard of a connection between the two. My son had a milk allergy in his first year and we were never warned about introducing eggs. We did the yolks at 9 months, as per our ped. We hard boiled andixed the yolks with applesauce. Keep in mind that with milk protein that it's not an actual allergy, just a sensitivity. HTH!

Thanks. I believe DS is a true allergy..he had nodules on his colon that were classified as an allergic colitis....that's what makes me nervous about him not outgrowing it.

I will def. try the hard boiled yoke..with benedryl on hand just in case. Thanks again.

My DD had a milk protein allergy (that she outgrew) and never had ever had an issue with eggs.
First time that I gave her yolks I scrambled them (I used water to thin them a little before cooking).
She ate them. Didn't love them though. As soon as I started with the whole egg she was in LOVE.

I think the connection people are making is that it is common for people with severe food allergies to be allergic to more than one thing.

Eggs are not dairy - the allergies are unrelated. DD had/has a milk allergy/sensitivity still at 16 months, but eggs are no problem. She can't even have trace dairy, she's never had a reaction to eggs.

DS had a milk protein allergy, outgrown by 12-14 months and never an issue with eggs.
