Mommies of winter babies, howmany gifts do you get your DC?
If your DC's birthday is close to the holidays, how many gifts do you give them?
I'm thinking of just 1 big birthday present, a wagon or something and for christmas, Idk yet. I want the christmas morning pictures under the tree to be nice, but I dont want to overdo it. I'm thinking 1 more big thing and maybe 5 medium size gifts?
DS's birthday is 2 weeks after christmas.

One of my DS is right before Christmas, the other a couple weeks after. I got them 1 big bday gift each, 1 big Christmas gift and 1 medium sized Christmas gift. I still have to get stocking stuff (books/smaller things). It's hard bc they both get so much stuff in a few short weeks, so I don't get a ton, that way I don't feel guilty if I buy something 'big' on their half bday or something.

One daughter is Dec 1st, the other is Jan 9. I won't change any plans because their bdays are close to the holidays. i plan on buying them the same amount as if their bdays were in june or something. my bday is end of november, and i never wanted to combine presents. doesn't mean i'll go nuts--i'll just pretend like they arent close

Same here. DSs birthday is Christmas Eve and I don't want him to feel that his b;day is overshadowed by or lumped into Christmas. We do what we would do if his birthday were any other time of year.

DD gets one big gift for her b-day (12/4) from Mommy & Daddy, and whatever she gets from everyone else (grandmas, aunts/uncles etc).
At Christmas DH & I randomly buy stuff and then figure out if it comes from us or Santa. For example, last year (she was 2) she got a play kitchen from Santa, a train set from mommy & daddy, an easel from Santa with markers and magnets, some books, wooden blocks, bath toys, and mega blocks all from Santa.

My bday is close to the holidays (Jan 4th) and I WISH my parents would have done this!!! I always got combined bday/Christmas presents and it really sucked. If my next DC is close to the holidays I will do the same as I would for my DS whose bday is in May.

I plan to do this in the future, but this year I plan on taking it easy since a) she won't know - it's her first birthday and Christmas and while we will def celebrate, we just won't go crazy, b) age-appropriate toys are still pretty big and we live in a 2BR, and c) I know DD and she'd rather play with a spoon or my blackberry anyway !

SD is Dec 4th...we get her one big gift from mom and dad and then she gets whatever anyone else gets her. For Christmas we usually only get one big gift as well since my MIL refuses to listen and buys her 10 billion things, therefore ensuring that SD doesn't appreciate anything she gets.

Me too - except DS instead of DD. He loves spoons, remotes, phones, etc. He's going to have more fun with boxes and wrapping paper than the actual gifts!

Re: Mommies of winter babies, howmany gifts do you get your DC?
We didn't get them anything last year. Their bday is Dec 30. Between Hanukkah, Christmas, and their 1st bday, they got so much stuff it really wasn't necessary, plus they had no idea what was going on. I'm toying with the same idea again this year. I may get them some small things for each night of hanukkah.

yes--last year DDs favorite thing was simply unwrapping presents--didn't matter what they were. i discovered how much she loved unwrapping stuff on her bday, so for xmas, i made sure to get a lot of little things for her to unwrap. she had soooo much fun. if your DC likes spoons--wrap up a box of spoons!!! for xmas this year i am getting a toy box and filling it with tons of old shoes because my DD loooooves putting on grown up shoes and walking around. i also plan on getting her real shoes (she will need new pairs by then) and wrapping them, just because she loves shoes so much. my baby DD loves bins of toys, so I may fill some bins with little toys and wrap that up for her. at this age, it's all about the joy of opening things they like--it doesn't have to be expensive. heck, i might even wrap up some of my older daughter's toys that are packed away and give them to younger DD.

Re: Mommies of winter babies, howmany gifts do you get your DC?
DS is a month before-I hope to treat his birthday no differently than his sibling's but it will be hard-there are only so many age specific toys a kid can get.
I'll probably also get him some "older toys" and maybe put them away for a few months.
