Moms of 2.5 to 3 year olds...eating question
Jacob has been on a food strike for the past week or so and has gradually become very picky. He refuses to eat dinner and he eats lunch/breakfast ok depending on the day. I have tried everything from eating later, eating earlier, and making new things. I spoke to the pediatrician this morning and he said that its normal at this age. Anyone's DC go through this at this age? What did you do to encourage eating or did his/her appetite just change from time to time. Thanks! I am at my wits end!

Yes, been there, done that!! I don't even think about it. If DD is hungry, she will eat. If not, oh well. I won't go through the effort of new meals and time changes. She knows that if she is hungry, she eats what is provided. Don't worry, Jacob is a smart kid and will eat when his belly says so
(p.s. How are YOU feeling )

she has her days where she is starving and eats like she has a tape worm, to days when she picks and hardly eats anything... It really is just the age- and they won't starve... so really, if they're hungry they'll eat!

BOTH my girls go through this phase in and out. My ped said the same as yours.
I don't stress about food. I don't make new meals though..they eat what i make or the only other option is cereal.

Alyssa has been like this since she stated on table foods. certain days she will go the whole day with maybe a few crackers and a slice of cheese. Other days she eats like a champ. Im like you...I tend to stress and worry about it. The dr tells me she is growing just fine and not to worry - as others said...they will eat when they are hungry.

Re: Moms of 2.5 to 3 year olds...eating question
My son can go 3 days without anything but hjuice, milk and the occasional cracker or cookie...
We have a lot of toher issues but what I have finally learned ( after a Ped visit, a nutritionist and a feeding evaluation to see if anything was wrong ) is that it is totally normal.
But it still worrys me and Im sure you too....

Re: Moms of 2.5 to 3 year olds...eating question
Honestly, my best advice is to do nothing. Do absolutely nothing different for him. When it comes to Ava, we rarely have problems with her eating, but if she chooses not to eat, then she doesn't eat. She gets the idea that if she doesn't eat what I gave, then too bad. I also am not a proponent of forcing an otherwise healthy kid to eat if they're not hungry.
