Moms of boys....circumcision related..UPDATE
The more I read the more nervous I am getting. I am going to call the pediatrician after my shower but I wanted to run this by the BTDT moms:
DS was circumcised about a week ago. I have been cleaning the area and generously applying vaseline. The skin has healed nicely but I am noticing that the head is attached to the shaft (what there is of it) and I read that they should be separate. Did I do something wrong? I see small spots where it is separated but mostly it's together. I feel lost...DH seems to think it's fine but I am confused. I don't have one of these things so I don't understand.
Any input? Thanks!
I went to the pediatrician and sure enough DS's pee-pee is fine. They showed me how to clean it and basically told me that when he gets an erection that it will open up on it's own. Whew. I felt so horrible. He showed me what an actual fusion looks like and that is not how it looks on DS so I feel better.
Thanks everyone!!!

Have you been pulling it down to clean it? It may have fused itself back together. I would call the Dr. to have him check it out.

Yes - I am afraid of that. I just called and they said to come in

That happened to Jared many times. The head would fuse together with the rest of it and the doctor had to seperate it a few times. I felt so bad because it would bleed and Jared would cry... When you clean it, just push down and apply the ointment.

the dr will detach it, this has happened a few times to DS, I suggest that even after he is healed to put some vaseline in the diaper to help keep this from happening

I would talk to the pediatrician. I didn't notice that with my son, but just carefully cleaned around it. It's fully healed now and the doc said it looks good, but since I don't have one it freaks me out sometimes. Do you have a pediatrician appmt coming up? If not make one, but I'm sure all is fine, better to just double check.
