Moms of children with food allergies
Did any of your children develope food allergies when they were older, like school aged? Im asking for my niece. Shes 9 years old and 2 nights ago woke up in pain with swollen lips. My sister laid with her but made sure nothing else hurt or was wrong and that she wasnt having trouble breathing. She called the allergist in the morning and they saw her. They didnt know what it was but by this time she developed hives all over her body but no fever. The Dr gave her some medicine and took blood but they wont have the results for 2 weeks. They said it could be an infection but wouldnt really know until the blood work came back. Well last night after the medicine had helped with the hives a little my sister gave her some ice cream well within minutes she had hives all over her face, befrore it was just on her body! So she got another dose of medicine and went to bed. Now today she has a fever and her hands and feet are swollen, her feet so bad she cant even walk I feel so bad for her! My sister is going to the pedicatrician now but I was just curious if any of you have had anything similar to this? Could it be a food allergy?

Allergies don't cause fevers. She must be brewing something. I hope they can figure it out soon...

Re: Moms of children with food allergies
It is totally possible to develop food allergies as an older child, or even a teenager/adult, but food allergies don't cause fevers.

Ok well thats good to know! Thank you! I guess it was just a coincidence that she broke out in more hives after the ice-cream...so weird! I just hope that if it is a viral infection that she feels better soon! Thanks!
