My DD does this as well. I was actually a little concerned if it hurt or not as well. Everything looks perfectly normal though.
Now, I feel better that it happens to a lot of the girls. I am assuming its just because its a extremely sensitive area.

DD just started doing this. She'll push my hand away if I spend to much time cleaning her up.

My DD does this as well. She starts to cry and pushes her legs together so I can't clean the area. I thought at first it was because she has had fungal infections and just doesn't want the area touched. But even when it is all clear down there, she doesn't want anything getting into her business. As PP said, I think they innately know that it is an area that is private.
