moms of infants, need sleep advice - sorry this is long!
i am thinking about changing DS's schedule up a bit.
right now he wakes up at 6am to eat (he usually is in bed between 7:30 and 8:30pm). because i have to get ready for work, i put him back down for a nap right away at 6:30am - but it usually takes him a while to fall back asleep, sometimes up to an hour!
(i know it sounds strange but when he was little this worked for us, not anymore )
the only thing is, he usually needs to nap every 2 to 3 hours.
so his schedule now is:
6am wake up, eat 6:30 to 8:30 nap 10am eat 11 am to 1pm nap 2pm eat 3pm to 5pm nap 5:30pm eat 7:30pm eat, down for the night.
if i change his schedule it will look more like this:
6am wake up, eat 8am to 10am nap 10am eat 12pm to 2pm nap 2pm eat 4pm to 6pm nap 6pm eat 8pm eat, down for the night
actually now that i am typing this and seeing it in writing, the new schedule isn't that different from what he is doing now.
is there something i should be doing differently? is he napping too much?

Re: moms of infants, need sleep advice - sorry this is long!
Looking back at when my DD was younger it seems my DS is on the same schedule she was.
wake around 6am, bottle. I always put them back in the crib so I can either get ready or go back to bed Sometimes he falls right back to sleep other times he doesn't. Either way he's usually out of the crib by 7 - 7:30.
Breakfast between 8:30 - 9:00
Nap #1 always between 9:30 - 10:30 (9:30 if he didn't fall back to sleep, closer to 10/10:30 if he did fall back to sleep). That nap usually only lasts an hour.
Lunch is between 12;30 - 1:00
Nap #2 between 1:30/2:00 (that nap ranges anywhere from 1 - 3 hours).
Dinner at 6 - 6:30
Bed by 7:30/8:00
DS is NOT a big bottle drinker. He has 1 at 6am, 1pm, 5pm, small one at 7:30. However on the days he's in daycare (3 days a week) they claim he has a bottle at 9, 12, and 3. I don't know how they get him to drink that much because he WON'T for me and DH.
I do always offer during his wake times and/or before each meal/nap, but he's not consistent at all and if he doesn't want it, I don't stress it. He maybe drinks 20 oz a day, but he's gaining weight and growing so the ped said not to worry about it.
DD was always up 6:30 (would play in crib until 7 - 7:30) and napped at 10 and 2 (until she dropped to one nap) and in bed by 8pm. She had a bottle every 3 - 4 hours consistently (in addition to 3 meals)

Re: moms of infants, need sleep advice - sorry this is long!
DS will be 4 months next weekend. He is not on a steady schedule but this is about it. 6 - wake up eat play for a little 7:30/8 nap until 9 or so 9 bottle play 12 bottle 12:30 nap this nap is anywhere b/t 1-2 hours 2/3 bottle 4 nap for an hour 5 or 6 bottle sleep at 7 or 8. Maybe there is another bottle in there and he goes to sleep a little later. He has been waking up a lot at night lately. I tried taking the swaddle away because he was turning over onto his belly but he can't sleep without it so I am just waiting until his next drs. appt. to speak with her about it! HTH!
