Moms of Newborns - fever question
DD has 99.1 fever after getting the Hep B shot yesterday, and she's been crying a lot...is this a high temp for a 5 week old? Any advice?

Re: Moms of Newborns - fever question
My ped told me anything over 100.4 to call. Did the ped advise you to give baby tylenol?

Re: Moms of Newborns - fever question
99.1 is not high at all, quite normal BUT it must be a rectal temp for it to be accurate in a newborn.

Thank you! The nurse said if needed...I think it may be needed.

Totally normal. My DDs normal rectal temp is often 99.5.
As long as it isn't over 100.4 rectally, its fine. And crankiness after a vaccine is very normal.

Re: Moms of Newborns - fever question
99.1 is a normal body temperature for a newborn. Infact, at almost 3, my dd's normal body temperature is 99.6.

It's up to you but I would personally not give it unless the temp is a fever over 100.4 or she is too cranky, seems very very uncomfortable. JMO Only you know how uncomfortable compared to her usual self though.
