Mom's of twins: Help ease our minds!
I posted the other day under parenting that my SIL is in the hospital on emergency bed rest. She was admitted at 29 wks, and this week begins her 30th wk. She has been having contractions off and on pretty regularly, is at least 1-cm dilated, her cervix continues to shorten and she also has recently been diagnosed with GD. Do any of you have similar stories? They are hoping to get her to 32 wks and then they are going to take them by C-section (one of them is breech). I know she is in the best place possible, and everything WILL be okay, but I guess I am looking for as many "related" stories that I can to help ease everyone's mind all around TIA!!!

Re: Mom's of twins: Help ease our minds!
Well I had my boys at 36 weeks, but was monitored very closely due to issues I was having. My high risk doctor told me up front that as long as we got to 30 weeks they would take the babies if they needed too. Yes they will need NICU time and what not, but 30 weeks is a great milestone if she can get to that.
I'll be keeping her in my prayers.

I had similar issues at 29 weeks. I made it to 34.5 weeks and the babies needed 2 weeks of NICU time but that is not a lot.
The babies were delivered b/c one twins was suffering from IUGR and the dr's believed he would do better if he came out.

Re: Mom's of twins: Help ease our minds!
i had contractions at 29 weeks and went to the hospital for 3 days. i was put on bedrest and sent home. dr said my goal was 32 weeks. then they said 34 weeks would be really great. then they said ok hit 36 weeks and everything after that ( until 38 weeks when they had to come out) is icing on the cake....my twins didn't come until 38.5 weeks. totally healthy!
i enjoyed bed rest but not as much as i should have. i wanted to do things and was a little anxious. but it was really the best thing ever. take care of yourself and do nothing drs orders. wish i could go back and do it again! i had a csection which for me was a wonderful experience.
GL to your SIL
